Davao City to dialogue with vax-resistant groups

DAVAO CITY, November 9 (PIA) – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte instructed the Vaccination cluster of the COVID19 Task Force to start looking and engaging with resistant individuals and groups on vaccination. This she bared in a radio program over Davao City Disaster Radio saying that the city has started using this strategy in Marilog area where the LGU tapped the right person to engage and speak with the individual identified to be influencing the IP group from getting vaccinated. “ Dunay panagtapuk ganina sa Marilog. We found out nga naay lumad nga naga influence sa iyahang mga kauban sa tribo (There was a gathering recently in Marilog, we found out there are lumads influencing others in the tribe). Our strategy is to go there and explain to them the importance of vaccination,” the mayor said. 73K Dabawenyos reached thru mobile vaccination

DAVAO CITY, November 5 (PIA) – About 73,737 Dabawenyos were reached thru the Mobile Vaccination Program of the Davao City 19 th  City Council. Harvey Lanticse from the Office of the Vice Mayor announced in a program over Davao City Disaster Radio that the mobile vaccination program has already accounted 44,210 fully vaccinated individuals. “ We are expecting to reach 75,000 until the weekend. Yesterday alone, we have inoculated 2,5000 in five barangays,” Lanticse said. The mobile vaccination program is a strategy done in Davao City to fast track the vaccination roll out and reach out the individuals who have limitations in going to the regular vaccination sites. Each city councilor is assigned to a particular barangay where they lead in organizing up to mobilizing vaccinees for a vaccination schedule set in strategic venue within the barangay such as gymnasium or barangay hall. Floods hit Davao City during Monday evening heavy rains

Flooding in Laverna Hills, photo by Leah Roluna DAVAO CITY, Oct. 26 (PIA)- Heavy downpour on Monday (Oct. 25) evening caused flooding in several parts of Davao City.   Also swollen rivers prompted the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to issue pre-emptive evacuation among the residents living near rivers particularly along Matina River.   Matina River along Barangay Matina Pangi was monitored at a Critical Level and overflowing affecting KM 8.5 and KM 9 in Matina Pangi.   At around 8:40 p.m. of October 25 Citywide and Barangay sirens  located in Barangays Matina Aplaya, Matina Crossing, and Matina Pangi were triggered where residents were ordered to folllow pre-emptive evacuation and proceed to designated evacuation areas.   Laverna Hills Subdivision in Barangay Cabantian also experienced deep flooding with floodwaters nearly reaching the roofs of the houses in the subdivision.   According to Barangay Cabantian Captain Nilo Cabiles an estimated 250 households

55.81% of Dabawenyos fully vaccinated

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 15 (PIA)- Davao City is inching its way into achieving COVID-19 herd immunity as 669,770 Dabawenyos (as of Oct. 9) are fully vaccinated which is equivalent to 55.81% of the city's population.   Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the focal person of Davao City’s Covid-19 Task Force said the numbers could go higher as vaccinations are still ongoing.   She said Davao City is targeting to achieve herd immunity by year end, which is 70 to 80% of the city’s population estimated at 1.2 million people.   Dr. Schlosser said that 66.08% (as of Oct. 9) or 792,932 individuals have already been vaccinated with the first dose.   To reach the herd immunity goal they are looking at several measures which include expanding Bakuna Nights or the nighttime vaccination. Schlosser said they are eyeing several malls in the city such as Abreeza, Gaisano Mall, SM Lanang, Gaisano Mall of Toril to host Bakuna Nights.   The Bakuna Nights aims to serve Dabawenyos who cannot go to daytime vaccination site

Davao City LGU bent for incentivizing vaccination

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio (right standing) and Senator Sherwin Gatchalian (left) at the Bakuna by the Sea DAVAO CITY, Sept. 28 (PIA) – The local government of Davao City is now in discussion on implementing another strategy to speed up the vaccination program by offering incentives in exchange for getting vaccinated.   Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte bared in a radio program over Davao City Disaster Radio that the LGU is  now discussing to prepare two vaccination centers which may start to provide incentives.   Mayor Sara opted not to announce these vaccination centers yet as procedures on how to go about it is not yet finalized.   “Understandable naman pud gud ang incentivizing nato karon kay naan a ta sa point na ang mga dato dili na sila muadto sa vaccination sites kay mas importante sa ila ang ilang pang-adlaw adlaw. Davao City launches Bakuna Nights

D AVAO CITY, Sept. 24- (PIA)-  The City Government of Davao is set to launch Bakuna Nights, vaccination program which will be held on nighttime in a bid to vaccinate people who are not available on daytime.   In an interview at the Davao City Disaster Radio, Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of Task Force COVID-19 Davao City said they have opened Bakuna Nights on September 23.   “ Naa na tay Bakuna Nights though technically we are doing pilot testing so tan-awon nato ang reception sa mga tawo, ( we will look at the reception of the people),” Schlosser said.   The vaccination sites will be open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the pilot area at San Roque Elementary School located in Barrio Obrero.   Schlosser said the daytime vaccination will cater to those with schedule while 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. will be open to walk-ins belonging to A4 sector.   She said the first night of the pilot testing they were able to vaccinate 588 people.   Schlosser said with the la

Davao City LGU in talks with DepEd for pilot face-to-face classes

DAVAO CITY, Sept. 21 (PIA) – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte bared that the Department of Education Davao Region reached out to the local government to prepare for the pilot face-to-face classes in public schools. Announced in a radio interview earlier, the mayor shared that the LGU was asked to submit a list of public schools where face to face classes will be rolled out and which will be discussed in the city’s COVID-19 task force meeting. “ The agreement is out if 182 barangays, they will be ranked according to risk assessment and the last three barangays in terms of risk assessment will be selected for the pilot face to face and dili tanan schools didto sa ilang barangay (not all schools in their barangay) . DAVAO CITY, July 24 (PIA)- Imagine getting yourself vaccinated amidst the sight of swaying coconut palms and feeling the soothing caress of sea breeze blowing from the Davao Gulf.
