DSWD turns over IP building in New Corella

DAVAO DEL NORTE, 31 May (PIA)—The Department of Social Welfare and Development recently turned over the P1,072,690.00 worth of indigenous people’s building called Tog’gan  Center for the IPs in Barangay Carcor in the municipality of New Corella.   Done in just 72 construction days, the Tog’gan Center was funded through the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI) - Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) subay sa Indigenous Peoples Community Driven Development (IP-CDD).   In a recently held turn-over rites, Datu Jolito Manabogan, barangay Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) expressed his happiness saying, the Tog’gan Center “is a valuable” facility of the IP community.   During the same occasion, Punong Barangay (Barangay Captain) Filbert Dawal of Brgy. DavSur LGU assists more brgys, organizations with livelihood support

DAVAO CITY, May 31 (PIA) – The provincial government of Davao del Sur has assisted more barangays and peoples organizations as it continues to provide livelihood support and projects across the province. In the convocation program of the employees at the provincial capitol in Digos City on Monday (May 30, 2022), Governor Marc Cagas has turned over a total of P3.1 million worth of financial assistance to a barangay council and various POs. From the total financial assistance, the Barangay Buas in Matanao town received P2 million to fund its relocation site with a land area of 20,000 square meters. According to the Davao del Sur Provincial Information Office, the aid under the Relocation Site Development Program (RSDP) will benefit 149 qualified residents. Shabu seized, drug den dismantled in DavNor town

DAVAO DEL NORTE,  May 30 (PIA)—Aside from seizing P189,000 worth of illegal drugs, the joint  elements of  the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)  Davao del Norte and  the Sto. Tomas Municipal Police Station eventually dismantled a drug den in an enforcement operation done on May 29, 2022 at around 11:40 in the evening at Purok 1, Barangay New Katipunan, Sto. DAVAO CITY, May 30 (PIA) – Davao Region is set to receive more tourists as the Department of Tourism (DOT) launched its communication campaign, “ Colours of Mindanao”. In the One Davao Presser held  recently at the Aeon Towers, Tourism Director of Davao Region Tanya Rabat-Tan bared that with the ready tourism circuits of the region which may be integrated or connected with the other regions in Mindanao, the region is expected to gain more tourists. Rabat-Tan explained that the campaign is all about assigning colors to the many tourism circuits in the different parts of Mindanao such that one region gets to offer their own circuits to the similar circuits in other regions and the campaign consolidates it by offering attractive package tours. Council on Children ready for revision of LGU Codes on Children

DAVAO DEL NORTE, May 30 (PIA)—  The Regional Sub-Committee for Welfare of Children (RSCWC) of Davao Region opens itself to providing  technical assistance to local government units (LGUs) especially in their bid to revise  their Local Code on Children.   RSCWC Regional Coordinator Reneeboy “Bhong” Binondo said that RSCWC XI is momentarily opening up doors for LGUs which seek to review and amend provisions of their respective codes on children to integrate new laws that further uphold children’s rights and welfare..   Even if LGUs have just recently passed or amended their Local Code on Children but Binondo said that if new national policies need to be integrated to form part of the local policies on children, “the Local Code on Children can readily be updated.”   Binondo was particularly referring to the Republic Act 10821 or “An Act Mandating the Provision of Emergency Relief and Protection for Children Before, During, and After Disasters and Other Emergency Situations.”   RA 10821 pa

PhilHealth-XI calls on members to register with “Konsulta Package”

DAVAO CITY, May 30 (PIA) – An official of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation in the region has called on all members to register with PhilHealth “Konsultang Sulit at Tama” Package to avail of the outpatient health services.   Johanna Blason, PhilHealth-XI press relations officer, explained that the Konsulta package is an expansion of primary care benefit which is newly-implemented, to cover all Filipinos as mandated by the Universal Health Care Law.   It offers the comprehensive outpatient health services such as initial and follow-up primary care consultations, health screening and assessment and access to selected diagnostic services, and medicines.    “This is what we have been clamoring and waiting for, to have outpatient health services… This is to prevent us from getting sick or for our sickness to get worst. PAF holds 75th anniversary exhibit in Abreeza

DAVAO CITY, May 30 (PIA) - - The Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao (TOW EastMin) celebrates the 75 th  anniversary of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) with an exhibit in Abreeza Mall, Davao on May 31 to June 2, 2022. According to the Public Information Office of TOW East Min, the exhibit located at the Activity Center Area at the ground floor of the mall will showcase the force’s humanitarian and disaster response (HADR) equipment, firearms, and aircrafts in replica. During the exhibit, the force’s K9 units will also showcase their capabilities. TOW East Min hopes to promote through the display the accomplishments of PAF, including its command thrust dubbed as LIPAD PAF, and the Flight Map 2028. Davao Region has 53 active trafficking-in-persons cases

DAVAO CITY, May 26 (PIA)—Davao Region has 53 active Trafficking-in-persons cases being heard in courts according to Assistant Regional Prosecutor Gladys Joy Almazan-De Leon, in the first Law Enforcement Quarterly meeting of the Inter-Agency Council against Trafficking held at the Women and Children’s Protection Unit Office at the Police Regional Office XI headquarters in Barangay Buhangin.   She said that top-notcher is Davao City with 30 cases, followed by seven cases in Digos City, Davao del Sur and five cases in the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte.   Almazan-De Leon said Panabo City, Tagum City, Davao de Oro, Mati City, and Davao Occidental have one case each.   “If you notice, in our records as of March 2022, there was no TIP case in Davao Oriental and Davao del Norte,” she said.   Almazan-De Leon said these TIP cases are currently handled by the law enforcement agencies under the Police Regional Office XI, Talomo Police Station and the National Bureau of Investigation

PEF eyes relocating Phil. Eagle Center to Brgy Eden

DAVAO CITY, May 30 (PIA)- The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) is eyeing an emergency and possibly a permanent relocation of the existing Philippine Eagle Center in Malagos to a 50-hectare City Government property in Barangay Eden. Andi Baldonado, Development Manager of the PEF said due to threats brought by the Avian Influenza they are on standby to relocate the Philippine Eagles to a local government property. Arms cache unearthed due to ex-NPA tip

DAVAO DE ORO, May 27 (PIA) - - A former member of the New People’s Army (NPA) tipped off authorities in the latest unearthing of arms cache at Sitio Liboton, Barangay Andap in New Bataan, Davao de Oro on Wednesday.   The cache includes three AK-47 rifles with two 30-round magazines, and one M16 Rifle with an attached M203 grenade launcher.   Alias Winwin revealed that the arms belonged to the Regional Operations Command/Regional Headquarters of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (ROC/HQ SMRC) led by a certain Leo Lacumbo alias Ole or Liang.   Winwin, who claimed to be a member of the ROC/HQ, surrendered to the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office (DDOPO) last April 1, 2022 along with alias Jakjak of Guerilla Front 2.   The recovery of the arms cache was jointly operated by the DDOPO and the 66 th  Infantry Battalion.   The firearms are now in the custody of 1st Davao de Oro Provincial Mobile Force Company for proper disposition.   Lieutenant Colonel Julius Munar, commander of 66

7 families set to return to DavNor thru Balik Probinsya

DAVAO CITY, May 27 (PIA) - Seven families are set to arrive in Davao del Norte soon after the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has given its go signal following the validation for them to qualify as beneficiaries of the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag asa Program (BP2P). In the One Davao Virtual Presser, PSWDO focal for the BP2P Lanny Guinit bared that out of the 46 families who initially sent their application thru the BP2P website, only 7 families are ready to be relocated in Davao del Norte. "Some who initially sent their application have withdrawn while some are asking for more time before getting dispatched to the province," Guinit said. Davao de Oro brings caravan of services in New Bataan village

Don Marcelino national high school, first to implement F2F classes in Davao Occidental

DAVAO CITY, May 27 (PIA) – The Luisa Joyce Mallari National High School of Barangay Lapuan, Don Marcelino town is the first secondary school to have been approved to implement the progressive face-to-face classes in the entire province of Davao Occidental.   The face-to-face classes in said school started on May 16, 2022, with 41 students from Grades 9, 10 and 12 included in the first set of students.   In the flag raising ceremony on the first day of classes, Schools Division Superintendent of Davao Occidental, Dr. Lorenzo E.
