Mati City kicks off construction of IP villages

DAVAO ORIENTAL, Jan. 25 (PIA) --- The City Government of Mati recently started constructing Indigenous Peoples (IP) villages in barangays Luban and Dawan named "Balai Kalipay" and "Balai Maganahay" respectively.    The IP housing projects has been given a grant of P40 million from the National Housing Authority (NHA) through  its Housing Assistance Program for Indigenous people (HAPIP) The City Government started the construction of one of the IP villages situated in Barangay Luban, which was named "Balai Kalipay," translated as "house of happiness" on January 5, 2022. Mati City Mayor Michel Rabat personally donated a 1.4 hectare of land in Barangay Luban for Balai Kalipay. DAVAO ORIENTAL, Dec. 22 (PIA) -- The City Government of Mati today, December 22, 2021, received a P30 million worth cheque from the National Housing Authority (NHA) for the construction of Indigenous People (IP) villages. The NHA's District Manager for Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley District Office, Engr. Sonia J. Bulseco turned over today the cheque to Mati City Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat at the Mayor's Office, Mati City Hall. Mati City Treasurer, Aloma S. Serafin and the City Housing and Resettlement Division Office (CHRD) Officer-In-Charge, Yza Marie B. Marundan. Two IP villages will be constructed from the funding named Balai Kalipay and Balai Maganahay which are both initiatives of the local government unit of Mati under Rabat's term. Each of the housing projects has a budget of P20 million with 75 housing units. Balai Kalipay is situated in Barangay Luban while Balai Maganahay will be constructed at Barangay Dawan. Mati City LGU provides equipment to Coast Guard Station

Mati City Mayor Michelle Rabat (3rd from left) turns over gears to the Coast Guard Station in Mati MATI CITY, Davao Oriental- The City Government of Mati turned over nearly P200,000 worth of gears and equipment to the Philippine Coast Guard Station Davao Oriental on November 25. The equipment given to the Coast Guard Station were desktop computer, diesel generator, search lights, megaphones, life jacket and medical kit. The gears were formally turned over by Mati City Mayor Michelle Rabat and was received by the Coast Guard Station Commander Lt. Junior Grade Elmar Mesina. Mayor Rabat recognized the efforts of the Coast Guard Station based in the city who are reliable partners of the local government in patrolling the bays of Pujada, Balete and Mayo against illegal fishers. Mati City kicks off 21st Sambuokan Festival

DAVAO ORIENTAL, Oct. 28 (PIA) -- The City of Mati formally opened the 21st Sambuokan Festival through a limited face-to-face ceremony and a live telecast through its official Facebook page at City of Mati LGU on October 25, 2021. This year's theme is, "Sambuokan: Selebrasyon sa Katawhan, Kinaiyan ug Kang Magbabaya," its culminating activity is on October 29, 2021.   In her opening speech, City Mayor Michelle N. Mati City begins house-to-house vax

Household vaccination in Mati City (photo by Mati CIO) DAVAO CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA)- The City of Mati in Davao Oriental is bringing its COVID-19 vaccination program to purok clusters and households.   Today Friday (Oct. 22) the Mati City Health Office has started its house-to-house vaccination for senior citizens and people with comorbidities. This will complement the ongoing vaccinations at the designated vaccination sites and those scheduled in the barangays.   On Oct. 4 the City has accepted walk-in vaccinees at the Davao Oriental State University campus. A vaccination program for DORSU students was started on Oct. 16.   Officials have hoped that students would become ambassadors for the vaccine that can help convince people to come out and be vaccinated.   Mati City is targeting to fully vaccinate 40% of its population by December this year. For violating COVID-19 protocols, four food stalls in Mati City given citation tickets

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 19 (PIA)- Four food stalls located in Dahican Beach in Mati City, Davao Oriental were given citation tickets for violating minimum public health standards during a gathering held on Oct. 16.   The violations of these food stalls were discovered on a video posted on Facebook. In the video customers who are attending the grand opening of the Shrimparty food stall owned by a certain Johan Calderon were not following rules on social distancing and were not wearing face masks.   The gathering also had no corresponding permit from the Mati Incident Management Team and also had no business permit from the City Government.   The Mati City police went to the place the following day (Oct. 17) and issued the citation ticket to Shrimparty Food Stall. Abunda Festival to be celebrated this October in Mati

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 1 (PIA)- A festival which celebrates the role of farmers and fisherfolks in the development of Mati City will be held starting this October.   Abunda Festival was established thru City Ordinance No. 500 series of 2021. It will be a week-long celebration to be held every third week of October until the fourth week of the same month.   The new festival will complement the popular Sambuokan Festival which is held every fourth week of October.   Among the highlight of the celebration include the Farmers’s Bagsakan Center in Sitio Tagawisan which will be led by the City Agriculture Office. The activities will center around the different aspects of agriculture such as crops, fisheries and livestock.   A carabao parade will be held where each barangay will present their delegation of water buffaloes or carabao sporting different designs and colors while carrying different agricultural produce of their communities.   There will also be a farmers and fisherfolks association rec
