DAVAO CITY, Oct. 1 (PIA)- A festival which celebrates the role of farmers and fisherfolks in the development of Mati City will be held starting this October.
Abunda Festival was established thru City Ordinance No. 500 series of 2021. It will be a week-long celebration to be held every third week of October until the fourth week of the same month.
The new festival will complement the popular Sambuokan Festival which is held every fourth week of October.
Among the highlight of the celebration include the Farmers’s Bagsakan Center in Sitio Tagawisan which will be led by the City Agriculture Office. The activities will center around the different aspects of agriculture such as crops, fisheries and livestock.
A carabao parade will be held where each barangay will present their delegation of water buffaloes or carabao sporting different designs and colors while carrying different agricultural produce of their communities.
There will also be a farmers and fisherfolks association recognition night, product demonstration and presentation of agricultural technologies, and a cooking competition.
The Abunda Festival is realized through the partnership of the different city government offices such as the City Agriculture Office, City Veterinary Services Office, City Information Office and City Events and Tourism Office (with reports from CIO Mati PIA XI/ RG Alama)
