DAVAO CITY, Jan 20, 2022 (PIA)- In an advisory issued yesterday (Jan. 19) the Department of Public Works and Highways has reopened the Bolton Bridge II for light vehicular traffic. The DPWH-XI closed Bolton Bridge I and II to vehicular traffic after a massive fire destroyed 24 structures under the bridge. The closure would enable the agency to conduct inspection on the bridges. The closure of the Bolton Bridges resulted in traffic jams in the downtown area as vehicles crowded into alternative routes. Bolton Bridge II which normally handles the one-way northbound vehicular traffic was opened to two-way traffic on the afternoon of Jan. 19 for vehicles weighing 6 tons or less.
