DAVAO CITY, Nov 4 (PIA) – As the COVID-19 health crisis affected the country and the rest of the world, the country’s major export of goods had a significant decrease as revealed during a presentation by the Philippine Statistics Authority XI on International Trade Merchandise Statistics held virtually on October 26. Bureau of Customs Port of Davao Deputy Collector Atty. Dante A. Maranan agreed with the data presented in which BOC is mandated by the law to give statistical records to PSA. Maranan said, “I found out that there is a decline in the export of goods compared to the previous year, even that to the 1 st semester of 2020. Perhaps it’s greatly affected by the onset of the pandemic brought by COVID-19”. Davao region’s total export turnout for the 1st semester of 2021 reached to 1.1 billion US dollar which is lower as compared to the same semester of 2020 at 1.52 billion US dollar.
