Davao de Oro to beef up security for May 2022 elections

DAVAO DE ORO, March 22 (PIA) - - Security will be beefed up in the province of Davao de Oro for the National and Local Elections on May 9, 2022. In an interview, Police Colonel Leonard Luna, provincial director of Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office (DDOPPO), disclosed that at least two security personnel will be deployed per voting center or school in the province for the election. According to the data from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Davao de Oro has 508,221 registered electorate to vote in 791 clustered precincts located in 287 voting centers or schools. “Together with COMELEC and AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines), we have a workshop para mapag-usapan ang personnel na ideploy naming especially those in the high-risk areas in terms of insurgency, doon sa mga GIDAs (geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas,” Luna said. Davao de Oro leaps to 11th in national competitive ranking

DAVAO DE ORO, February 23 (PIA) - - Davao de Oro jumped 16 notches higher to rank 11 th  among 76 provinces in the National Competitiveness Index 2021. According to the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index, Davao de Oro placed 27 th  in 2020 with a score of 38.5470. The webpage underscored that the provincial rankings are based on population and income weighted average of the overall scores of cities and municipalities under a province.   In the region, Davao de Oro remains second in the Over-all Most Competitive Province that was presented on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, during the 5 th  Davao Region Competitiveness Awarding. NPA affiliated workers surrender in Davao de Oro

DAVAO DE ORO, February 22 (PIA) - - Some 91 banana plantation workers who are member of the Nagkahiusang Mamumuo sa Suyapa Farms (NAMASUFA) surrendered recently to the authorities in the province of Davao de Oro. 32 Nabbed in Police Ops in Davao de Oro

DAVAO DE ORO, Feb. 21 (PIA) - A total of 32 persons were arrested during the weekend in the simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations of the Philippine National Police in Davao de Oro. According to the report from the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office (DDOPPO), the police nabbed eleven individuals from seven towns through search warrants, buy-bust and checkpoint operations. The identified municipalities were Mabini, Maco, Mawab, Monkayo, New Bataan, and Nabunturan. Along with the nabbed persons, the police also seized 2.5308 grams of white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine or shabu loaded in 25 sachets, and one pack 30.2 grams of marijuana dried leaves. The street value of the drugs confiscated is at PhP 20,833.44. 1,000+ Davao de Oro farmers get Certified Rice Seeds

DAVAO DE ORO, February 2 (PIA) - - A total of 1,090 farmers in the province of Davao de Oro received Certified Rice Seeds from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Philippine Rice Research Institute (PHILRICE). Distributed by the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO), the farmers in Nabunturan, Montevista, Compostela, Mawab, and Laak received 853 bags of 40 kilograms rice seeds from DA, and 3,000 bags of 20 kilograms rice seeds from PHILRICE. According to reports from the PAGRO, the agricultural grants aim to lessen the cost of production of the farmers, especially since the weather conditions in the province in the past few weeks were not suitable for farming. The seeds are also expected to produce 4.5 metric tons of fresh palay per hectare for the harvesting season this April to June 2022, the agriculture office said. Booster shot reloads antibodies against COVID-19 - expert

DAVAO DE ORO, January 31, 2022 (PIA) - - An Infectious Disease Specialist and consultant of Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital urged the public, who are fully vaccinated, to get booster shots against COVID-19. During the Virtual Forum on Omicron, Dr. Kathryn Uy Roa stressed that booster shots are needed to replenish the depleting antibodies against COVID-19 that were injected from the primary dose or doses. “Nakita man gud sa studies nga after some time, nagamubo na ang antibodies (against COVID-19) sa atong lawas, so kinahanglan nato na isaka napud ang mga antibodies para ang atong level of protection taas lang gihapon against severe disease and death,” Dr. Roa said. DTI provides PHP 2.5M facilities to 3 groups in Davao de Oro

The identified cooperators of the SSF projects were VPI Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (VPI ARBCO), VPI Employees Cooperative (VPIEMPCO), and Maco Centro OFW Family Association (MACOFA).   A banana flour producing cooperative, VPIARBCO, received a biomass furnace (mechanical dryer) worth Php 1.68 million. VPIEMPCO obtained the first Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for a shared service facility in the province worth PhP 677,980. Gov Uy energizes RPSB teams with gen sets

DAVAO DE ORO, January 21 (PIA) - - Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy turned over 27 generator sets to the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office (DDOPPO) for the Revitalized Police sa Barangay (RPSB) teams. The generator set with 1,000 watts capacity each were among the equipment that were sanctified during the Blessing Ceremony on Monday. Gov Uy inaugurates PhP 6.5M BDP projects in Calabcab, Maco

DAVAO DE ORO, January 13 (PIA) -   Davao del Oro Provincial Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy inaugurated on Thursday three Barangay Development Program (BDP) projects worth PhP 6.5 million in Barangay Calabcab, Maco. The projects launched were PhP 3-million Flood Control Project, PhP 3-million Sitio Street Electrification Project, and Cattle Livelihood Project worth PhP 500,000. Governor Uy congratulated the residents of the barangay for keeping their community, free from insurgent, which caused them to have PhP 20-million BDP projects from the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte through the National Task Force To End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC). NABUNTURAN, November 19 (PIA) - - Davao de Oro Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy appealed to the senators to pass the original PhP 28.1 billion budget for the Barangay Development Projects (BDP) for 2022.   “Atong ginapanawagan sa atong mga senador ang pag balik sa orihinal nga budget sa BDP nga 28.1 billion pesos kung asa apil ang pondo para sa 41 barangays sa Davao de Oro,” Governor Uy stated in his official statement through social media. Nabunturan film festival holds virtual event

DAVAO CITY- Nabifilmex 8 (8 th Nabunturan Independent Film Exhibition) successfully held its virtual film festival which ran from October 25 to October 29. There were 45 official competition films of which 11 were made by Davao de Oro filmmakers while 10 were from overseas. Nabifilmex is a regional film festival hosted by Nabunturan Municipality in the province of Davao de Oro. The film festival was known for conducting open air film screenings at the town plaza made possible by a donate giant inflatable screen. In 2019 the film festival had its cinema screening at the newly built Cinematheque Nabunturan which was constructed by the Film Development Council of the Philippines. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the organizers to go online.
