NABUNTURAN, November 19 (PIA) - - Davao de Oro Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy appealed to the senators to pass the original PhP 28.1 billion budget for the Barangay Development Projects (BDP) for 2022.

“Atong ginapanawagan sa atong mga senador ang pag balik sa orihinal nga budget sa BDP nga 28.1 billion pesos kung asa apil ang pondo para sa 41 barangays sa Davao de Oro,” Governor Uy stated in his official statement through social media. (We are calling the senators to restore back the BDP to its original budget of PhP 28.1 billion, which includes funds for 41 barangays in Davao de Oro.

The local chief executive stressed that the fund will answer the issues of the communities, which triggered them to support or even be part of the communist insurgency.

“Pinaagi niining mga proyekto, mahatagan nato'g kasulbaran ang dugay na nga mulo sa atong mga komunidad ug sa dili madugay, makab-ot nato ang malahutayong kalinaw ug kalambuan nga lakip ang tanan,” Governor Uy said. (Through these projects, we will provide solutions to the lingering issues in the communities, and perhaps soon, we can achieve lasting peace and development for everyone.)

This year, some 65 barangays of Davao de Oro received a total of 128 projects worth PhP 1.2 billion.

The projects include 118 road, water sanitation, building construction, electrification, and flood control and mitigation; and 10 livelihood assistance.

As of this writing, the Provincial Engineer’s Office reported seven infrastructure projects that are completed, and ready for turn-over.

For 2022, the province of Davao de Oro has listed 41 cleared barangays in the province to be included in the BDP Fund.

Governor Uy also declared that the BDP projects, as well as other programs and projects of the province, greatly contributed in the decline of the communist rebels in the province.

“Gikan sa onse (11) ka guerilla units niadtong 2016, usa na lamang ang nahibilin karon,” he said. (From 11 guerilla units last 2016, only one unit is left now.)

Uy also underscored that because of the current peace and order situation, Davao de Oro was proclaimed as the Second Most Competitive Province in the region, and fourth place as most visited province by local tourist in 2020 even with the pandemic. (PIA XI, Michael Uy)
