New batch of drug reformists graduate from DavOr's Balay Silangan

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Mar. 22 (PIA) -- Another batch of drug reformists composed of 22 individuals graduated yesterday from the 21-day intensive Rural-Based Treatment for Outpatient Rehabilitation Program in Davao Oriental. The drug reformists conducted their rehabilitation process at the "Balay Silangan: Bagong Bahay Para sa Bagong Buhay," situated at Sitio Magay, Barangay Don Martin Marundan, in the City of Mati which is run by the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental. These individuals were apprehended by the law enforcement authorities after using or possessing illegal drugs who availed of the plea-bargaining program afterward. As a sanction to their case, they were instead enrolled to a short-term residential treatment called Rural-Based treatment (RBT) at the Balay Silangan. DOT-XI sees great potentials in DavOr

DAVAO CITY, Mar. 3 (PIA) - With the tourism sector on the verge of recovery the Department of Tourism Region XI is seeing the great potentials of Davao Oriental. Davao Oriental shows a very promising tourist destination.  New integrated school opened in Manay 


DAVAO ORIENTAL, Feb. 23 (PIA)- The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental and the Department of Education on February 14 formally opened a new integrated school located in Barangay Zaragosa, Municipality of Manay. The new integrated school is in line with the goal of the provincial government and the DepEd in providing quality education to students in far-flung barangays in the province The Francisco E. Lahora Integrated school was derived from the former Francisco Lahora Elementary School. Its conversion to an integrated school last year enabled the increase of its learning capacity where it can now accommodate Grade 7 learners. DAVAO CITY, Feb. 11 (PIA)- The Davao Oriental Federation of Former Rebels was formed as the 10 existing associations of former rebels have elected their new officers. The formation of the DOFFR was realized during the first provincial assembly of former rebels associations held today (Feb. 11) at the Provincial Capitol in Mati City. “This will further strengthen the engagement of our FRs with the government. Bayanihan Bakunahan 3 targets 30-T vaccinees in Davao Oriental

D AVAO CITY, Feb. 10 (PIA)- Today (Feb. 10) marks the start of the Bayanihan Bakunahan 3 (National Vaccination Day Part 3). Davao Oriental is targeting 30,450 vaccinees on the massive two-day vaccination program (Feb. 10-11). According to the Provincial Health Office of Davao Oriental, they are prioritizing senior citizens but they will also be accepting persons from the eligible population   who would want to be vaccinated. The PHO also said that even though the Bayanihan Bakunahan 3 will end tomorrow (Feb. 11) the major vaccination sites in Davao Oriental will still be open to accept vaccinees. The province is urging those not yet vaccinated to proceed to the different vaccination sites to get themselves protected against COVID-19. Davao Oriental now has fully vaccinated 300,024 residents or 70.5% of the 425,494 target herd immunity. Around 78.9% or 335,761 residents are partially vaccinated. The would need to vaccinated 89,733 residents to achieve   herd immunity in the province. (P

2 Omicron variant cases detected in Davao Occidental – DOH-XI

DAVAO CITY, Jan. 20 (PIA) – Two of the five Omicron variant cases in Davao Region have been detected in Davao Occidental, as confirmed today (Jan. 20) by the Department of Health Davao Center for Health Development.   In its press release, the DOH-XI bared that both are local residents of Davao Occidental with no travel history and have been tagged as recovered upon the release of the Whole-Genome Sequencing (WGS) report.      Tagged as Case#4, the patient is a 28-year old female, fully vaccinated, who was swabbed for RTPCR testing last December 11, 2021 and specimen was processed at the SPMC Molecular Laboratory. Her specimen was sent to UP-PGC last December 23, 2021.   Case #5 is a 63-year old male, fully vaccinated, who was swabbed for RTPCR testing last December 16, 2021 and the specimen was processed at the SPMC Molecular Laboratory. DavOr kicks off second round of Bayanihan Bakunahan

DAVAO ORIENTAL, Dec. 21 (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental along with its city and municipal local government units (LGUs) kicked off its second round of the Three-Day National Vaccination Days dubbed as Bayanihan Bakunahan to boost the vaccination rate in their respective LGUs on December 20-22, 2021. The Department of Health Region XI Regional Director Dr. Anabelle Yumang graced the kick-off of the second round of vaccination in Davao Oriental yesterday in the Municipality of Baganga with Provincial Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang. The City of Mati, Municipality of Baganga, and the Municipality of Lupon are the LGUs that joined the second round of Bayanihan Bakunahan on December 21-22, 2021. DAVAO ORIENTAL, Dec. 13 (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental was awarded the Gold Performance Award by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its efforts against drug abuse in the province. During the 2021 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Award held virtually on December 10, 2021, DILG conferred the said award to the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental for its 2019 and 2020 Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) performance audited earlier this year. Davao Oriental eyes 96,744 vaccinees this Nov 29- Dec. 1

DAVAO CITY- The Province of Davao Oriental is eyeing to vaccinate 96,744 individuals during the Bayanihan Bakunahan (National Vaccination Days) slated Nov. 29- Dec. 1 According to Davao Oriental Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Reden Bersaldo this would mean a target of 32,248 vaccinees per day during the three-day event. Dr. Bersaldo who is also the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 Action Officer said the vaccination would focus on population groups; the pediatric population (12 to 17 years old), senior citizens, frontline personnel in essential sectors, indigent population. The three day Bayanihan Bakunahan aims to vaccinate persons not yet vaccinated in an effort to achieve herd immunity. In the Davao Region, the Department of Health-XI is targeting 753,294 unvaccinated individuals. Based on provincial data, Davao Oriental has a total population of 607,851 and 70% of the population is pegged at 425,494. Davao Oriental adopts Alert Level System

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 27 (PIA)- The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental has adopted the National Inter Agency Task Force-mandated Alert Level System in dealing with COVID-19 cases in its jurisdiction.   The Alert Level System is the new community quarantine classification aimed at managing the virus thru certain system indicators, triggers and thresholds as determined by the IATF.   Under the Alert Level System, there will be five levels which would determine the appropriate response protocols.   Alert Level 1 - refers to areas wherein case transmission is low and decreasing, total bed utilization rate, and intensive care unit utilization rate is low. DOST XI PROMOTES BREADFRUIT AS EMERGENCY FOOD SOURCE IN TARRAGONA, DAVAO ORIENTAL

DAVAO ORIENTAL– The Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) continues to lead the way in battling the adverse effects of climate change and strengthening the disaster preparedness of the people in Davao Region. 769 families evacuated in DavOr due to storm threat

Generoso town DAVAO CITY, Oct. 12 (PIA)- A total of 769 families mostly residents of coastal areas in the province of Davao Oriental were preemptively evacuated due to threat of a storm surge brought by Tropical Storm Maring over the weekend.   Maring which had maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour with gustiness of up to 105 km/hour carried strong winds, heavy rains and southwest monsoon-induced waves. On the evening of Oct. 10, an estimated 24 houses were partially damaged, they were located in the towns of San Isidro and Governor Generoso.   Most of the 769 evacuated families have returned home after it situation was deemed safe.   DAVAO CITY, Oct. 1 (PIA)- The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has placed the province of Davao Oriental under General Community Quarantine starting today October 1 until October 31.   Pursuant to the community quarantine classification the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental has released today (Oct. 1) Executive Order 22 series of 2021 which are guidelines implementing the GCQ in the province.   The new guidelines coincide with the filing of the certificate of candidacy for the coming 2022 national and local elections, with this the EO provided directives on Commission on Elections (Comelec) sanctioned activities.   Under Section 6 of EO 22.
