2 Omicron variant cases detected in Davao Occidental – DOH-XI



DAVAO CITY, Jan. 20 (PIA) – Two of the five Omicron variant cases in Davao Region have been detected in Davao Occidental, as confirmed today (Jan. 20) by the Department of Health Davao Center for Health Development.

 

In its press release, the DOH-XI bared that both are local residents of Davao Occidental with no travel history and have been tagged as recovered upon the release of the Whole-Genome Sequencing (WGS) report.   

 

Tagged as Case#4, the patient is a 28-year old female, fully vaccinated, who was swabbed for RTPCR testing last December 11, 2021 and specimen was processed at the SPMC Molecular Laboratory. Her specimen was sent to UP-PGC last December 23, 2021.

 

Case #5 is a 63-year old male, fully vaccinated, who was swabbed for RTPCR testing last December 16, 2021 and the specimen was processed at the SPMC Molecular Laboratory. His specimen was sent to UP-PGC last December 23, 2021.

 

Meanwhile, a 23-year old male returning overseas Filipino has also been confirmed as among the first five Omicron variant cases in Davao Region.     

 

Tagged as Case #1, the said patient was swabbed at the Philippine Red Cross Clark Molecular Laboratory. The sample was collected on December 18, 2021.

 

He has also been tagged as recovered upon the release of WGS report, and he is now in his residence in Davao del Sur.

 

In a press conference held immediately after the issuance of the press release on January 20, 2022, DOH-XI Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Head Dr. Rachel Joy F. Pasion said that they have been closely working with the concerned local government units to conduct intensive case investigation.

 

This is to ensure that the isolation period is completed and all close contacts were adequately identified and completed quarantine, and that eligible samples for sequencing were submitted, Pasion stated as she read the press release during the virtual press conference.

 

She added that re-testing will be done but re-quarantine is no longer necessary unless the case is symptomatic upon location. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)

DOH XI hires more nurses, doctors

DAVAO CITY, September 6 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI bared its emergency hiring for nurses and doctors following the need to augment the personnel requirement of COVID19 hospitals from all over the region. The head of the DOH XI Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Dr. Rachel Pasion, in today’s DOH Virtual Presser reported that in Davao City alone combining both the COVID19 hospitals and the private hospitals have utilized 674 COVID19 beds out of the 830 beds or 79.4 utilization rate. This brings the region’s critical care utilization at a high risk level. The Southern Philippine Medical Center, in the past few days, released an advisory informing the public that it has been experiencing an unusually high volume of patients needing admission for COVID19. Mati City releases new tricycle fare guidelines

DAVAO ORIENTAL, Apr. 6 (PIA) -- The City Government of Mati has issued a new set of tricycle fare guidelines due to the increase in gasoline prices over the past weeks.   Under the City Ordinance No. 527 Series of 2022 or the "Ordinance Imposing the Regulation of Fare and Motorized  Tricycle-for-Hire in the City of Mati," the minimum fares are peg on the prevailing fuel prices. If the gasoline prices would hover at P40.00 to P49.99 per liter the minimum fare would be pegged at P9.00. If fuel prices are at P50.00 to P69.99/liter, minimum fare would be at P12.00 The current minimum fare is now P14.00 as the price of gasoline is between P70.00 to P89.99 per liter.   If the gasoline increase would go from P90.00 to P99.00/liter, the minimum fare will be P15.00.
