DAVAO DE ORO, February 2 (PIA) - - A total of 1,090 farmers in the province of Davao de Oro received Certified Rice Seeds from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Philippine Rice Research Institute (PHILRICE). Distributed by the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO), the farmers in Nabunturan, Montevista, Compostela, Mawab, and Laak received 853 bags of 40 kilograms rice seeds from DA, and 3,000 bags of 20 kilograms rice seeds from PHILRICE. According to reports from the PAGRO, the agricultural grants aim to lessen the cost of production of the farmers, especially since the weather conditions in the province in the past few weeks were not suitable for farming. The seeds are also expected to produce 4.5 metric tons of fresh palay per hectare for the harvesting season this April to June 2022, the agriculture office said.
