DCPO seize 45 firearms during gun ban

DAVAO CITY, Feb. 9 (PIA)—A total of 45 firearms were confiscated by the police in time for the election period. Major Eudisan Gultiano, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office XI bared that 45 firearms have been confiscated in the police operations while 33 persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms.   She told the AFP-PNP Press Corps said that 32 of these weapons were taken in violation of the COMELEC gun ban.   However, Gultiano clarified that only a few of these firearms were confiscated in the checkpoints.   “Most of the confiscations related to illegal possession of firearms during the election period was the result of police operation,” she said.   Gultiano bared that there are a total of 3,563 checkpoints established throughout the region upon the start of the election period. DCPO implements Gun Ban

DAVAO CITY, January 10 (PIA)--Precincts under the Davao City Police Office implemented the gun ban in time for the elections from January 8 up to June 8, 2022.   Major Rosario Aguilar, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office emphasized that only uniformed personnel is authorized to bear firearms while the permits to carry firearms outside residence are banned in the duration.   She bared that during the launching of the gun ban, officials of the Commission on Elections in Davao City, the DCPO and the Task Force Davao ordered all police precincts to implement the measure.   Prior to the Comelec Gun Ban implementation, Aguilar bared that station commanders in the various police stations in the city were reshuffled to do away with familiarization. She said the reshuffle affected officers who had been staying for a year in their posts.
