DAVAO CITY, January 10 (PIA)--Precincts under the Davao City Police Office implemented the gun ban in time for the elections from January 8 up to June 8, 2022.
Major Rosario Aguilar, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office emphasized that only uniformed personnel is authorized to bear firearms while the permits to carry firearms outside residence are banned in the duration.
She bared that during the launching of the gun ban, officials of the Commission on Elections in Davao City, the DCPO and the Task Force Davao ordered all police precincts to implement the measure.
Prior to the Comelec Gun Ban implementation, Aguilar bared that station commanders in the various police stations in the city were reshuffled to do away with familiarization.
She said the reshuffle affected officers who had been staying for a year in their posts.
Aguilar revealed that the reshuffle will enhance the activities of the local police force by ensuring police visibility at all times.
She said that the reshuffle of local police leadership involved Major Bencalin Baluan from the Sta. Ana Police Station to the San Pedro Police Station; Major Jack Tilcag from the San Pedro Police Station to the Calinan Police Station; Major Marvin Hugos of the Paquibato Police Station to the Baliok Police Station; Major Jonel Pedreso from the Baliok Police Station to the Paquibato Police Station; Major Michael Uyanguren from the Toril Police Station to the Tugbok Police Station; Major Noel Villahermosa from the Tugbok Police Station to the Talomo Police Station; Major Jake Golez would run the Sta. Ana Police Station; Major Carol Jabagat of the Ecoland Police Station would lead the Toril Police Station and would be replaced by Major Rosario Aguilar.
Aguilar said all police stations have to implement the Comelec Gun Ban Checkpoints.
“The checkpoint implementation will cause delays to the motorists and entails everyone for a possible change in schedules,” she stressed.
Colonel Darren Comia, commander of the Task Force Davao expressed support to the gun ban implementation of the Commission on Elections and the Davao City Police Office through the establishment of fixed and random checkpoints.
He called on all Davaoeños to lengthen their patience since the checkpoints are there to ensure that no firearms, and contraband can go around the city.
Comia assured that all members of the TF Davao are exempted from the gun ban provided they have all the documents in the performance of their jobs as members of the security cluster of the city. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
