Summer Saya in Samal revived 2 years after 

DAVAO DEL NORTE, May 15 (PIA)— The “Summer Saya sa Isla” of the Island Garden City of Samal is revived this 2022 summer after  a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic.  Highlighted by feast and fun while spending time in this island City, the Summer Saya sa Isla 2022 was officially opened night of May 13  at  the Freedom Park in Brgy Penaplata in the midst of live performances, food and fire dancing.  Davao Del Norte Provincial Tourism Officer Noel Daquioag led the beating of gong signaling the official opening of the Summer Saya sa Isla 2022.  In his speech, he expressed his gratitude for the comeback of the tourism activities on Samal Island and reiterated that the provincial government is ever ready to support Samal Island, especially in its tourism.  "Daghan kaayo og panghitabo sa atoang country karung Mayo, but isa gud kini sa mga pinakasignificant na panghitab o because we are opening again Summer Saya sa Isla, which has been halted during the pandemic..."  City Mayo

6 barangays in DavNor, now drug-free

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Nov. 9 (PIA) -- A total of six (6) barangays in the Municipality of Asuncion in Davao Del Norte are now cleared from drug influence by the Regional Oversight Committee Barangay Drug Clearing Program (ROCBDC) on November 4, 2021. Also, (2) barangays in the Island Garden City of Samal were confirmed as drug-unaffected barangays. On the deliberation of the application of the barangays for the Barangay Drug Clearing Program on November 4, 2021, held at the Asuncion Sports and Cultural Center, the ROCBDC chaired by Regional Director Aileen T. Lovitos, of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI, with the partner agencies; Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) XI, Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office XI, Department of Health (DOH) XI, and the local government units, granted the Drug-Cleared status to the six (6) applicant barangays of Asuncion.
