Summer Saya in Samal revived 2 years after 



DAVAO DEL NORTE, May 15 (PIA)— The “Summer Saya sa Isla” of the Island Garden City of Samal is revived this 2022 summer after  a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic. 


Highlighted by feast and fun while spending time in this island City, the Summer Saya sa Isla 2022 was officially opened night of May 13  at  the Freedom Park in Brgy Penaplata in the midst of live performances, food and fire dancing. 


Davao Del Norte Provincial Tourism Officer Noel Daquioag led the beating of gong signaling the official opening of the Summer Saya sa Isla 2022. 


In his speech, he expressed his gratitude for the comeback of the tourism activities on Samal Island and reiterated that the provincial government is ever ready to support Samal Island, especially in its tourism. 


"Daghan kaayo og panghitabo sa atoang country karung Mayo, but isa gud kini sa mga pinakasignificant na panghitabo because we are opening again Summer Saya sa Isla, which has been halted during the pandemic..." 


City Mayor Al David T. Uy joined the event, along with Vice Mayor Richard Guindolman, and councilor-elects Renz Lacorte and Sonny Lanorias.


There was  zumba dancing followed by the Night Fun Run.  A showdown of fire-dancers and live performance of music bands were also the activities during the Summer Saya. (JMDA with reports from City Information Office of Samal)

More NPAs surrender in DavNor

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Nov. 23 (PIA) – More than 30 former members of the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA) recently surrendered to government troops in the Province of Davao Del Norte with their firearms turned over to the 10th Infantry AGILA Division of  the Philippine Army. Parents urged to register children to Safe Davao QR before vax

DAVAO CITY, February 22—(PIA) A local vaccine czar urged parents to register first their children aged five to eleven to the SAFEDAVAO QR before they can go to vaccine sites for inoculation. Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, Vaccination Cluster head of the city bared the registration to the SAFEDAVAOQR is crucial so that their children will be integrated in the local vaccination system. She said that the vaccination for children now is on its second phase, with three vaccination sites namely San Roque Elementary School in Barrio Obrero, Vicente Hizon Elementary School at Barangay Sasa and the Almendras gym. “Children can be vaccinated on these sites, whether they are walk-ins provided they have registered at the SAFEDAVAOQR,” Villafuerte said.
