Davao City now aiming to vaccinate total population

DAVAO CITY, Feb. 17 (PIA)- From aiming to achieve herd immunity, the City Government of Davao is now targeting to vaccinate its whole population estimated at 1.8 million people. “Before herd immunity atong ginatarget karon didto na ta sa total population (Before we were targeting herd immunity now we are in total population),” said Dr. Michelle Schlosser Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson during her radio guesting at Davao City Disaster Radio. Bakuna by the Sea returns with booster vax for tourism workers

DAVAO CITY, Jan. 10 (PIA)-   The Bakuna by the Sea gets another much-needed sequel as Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao will open its doors for Bakuna Booster by the Sea starting January 12. The Bakuna Booster by the Sea aims to give booster COVID-19 vaccine shots to tourism and allied sector industry workers in Davao City, this amidst the present surge of COVID-19 cases and the presence of the Omicron variant in the country. The vaccination drive is organized by the Waterfront Insular Hotel, the City Government of Davao and the Davao Tourism Association composed of different tourism industry stakeholders in the city. DavOcc intensifies COVID-19 vaccination in far-flung barangays

DAVAO CITY, Jan. 5 (PIA) – The Provincial Health Office of Davao Occidental has intensified its assistance in the COVID-19 vaccination in the five municipalities of the province, in a bid to finally reach herd immunity.     The administration of the COVID-19 vaccines though has been part of the efforts of the PHO since the onset of the vaccination drive especially in the municipality of Malita, but starting this month the PHO is set to help in the vaccination activities of the other local government units.   “Our assistance is not just technical, not just monitoring, but the PHO has also established our own vaccination site and has been administering the vaccines as help to our LGUs,” said Prince Paraiso, PHO’s Health Education and Promotion Officer.   Paraiso said that after Malita this week, the PHO’s vaccination team will be going to Jose Abad Santos and Sta. Davao Del Norte's Vaccination Program Coordinator, Dr. Eleanor H. Salva  DAVAO DEL NORTE, Dec. 22 (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Davao Del Norte's Vaccination Program Coordinator, Dr. Eleanor H. Salva said that people are not hesitant to take the vaccines in Davao Del Norte. Davao Region to  hit 2nd round vax target

DAVAO CITY, Dec. 15 (PIA)--- Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles is confident that Davao Region would hit  the  newly set vaccination target for the second round of Bayanihan Bakunahan, having noted the overall effort forged in the 1 st  round made it beyond the latest target.   “We are very confident that on phase II  maabot na nato ang target ,” CORDS XI Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said during the One Davao Presser, referring to the 2 nd  round of  Bayanihan Bakunahan on Dec 20,21, 22.   “ Sama sa akong gi-ingon (like what I said) 128,000 ang highest daily (jab) for phase I.. and for phase II, Very doable ang target for phase II. Davao City to dialogue with vax-resistant groups

DAVAO CITY, November 9 (PIA) – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte instructed the Vaccination cluster of the COVID19 Task Force to start looking and engaging with resistant individuals and groups on vaccination. 73K Dabawenyos reached thru mobile vaccination

DAVAO CITY, November 5 (PIA) – About 73,737 Dabawenyos were reached thru the Mobile Vaccination Program of the Davao City 19 th  City Council. Harvey Lanticse from the Office of the Vice Mayor announced in a program over Davao City Disaster Radio that the mobile vaccination program has already accounted 44,210 fully vaccinated individuals. “ We are expecting to reach 75,000 until the weekend. Yesterday alone, we have inoculated 2,5000 in five barangays,” Lanticse said. The mobile vaccination program is a strategy done in Davao City to fast track the vaccination roll out and reach out the individuals who have limitations in going to the regular vaccination sites. Each city councilor is assigned to a particular barangay where they lead in organizing up to mobilizing vaccinees for a vaccination schedule set in strategic venue within the barangay such as gymnasium or barangay hall. DOH XI opens vaccination for 12-17 yrs old with comorbidities

DAVAO, Oct 27 (PIA) - Starting October 29, 2021, children aged 12-17 with comorbidities may get vaccinated in identified hospitals in Davao Region. The Department of Health XI (DOH XI) in a press release called on children under Pediatric A3 or those 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities to have themselves scheduled for vaccination by securing first a medical certificate detailing the child’s comorbidity, valid ID of the child and the parent or guardian, and any proof of filiation like the birth certificate. The hospitals identified to cater vaccination of the Pediatric A3 group are the following: Southern Philippines Medical  Center, Metro Davao Medical and Research Center, and the Seamen's Hospital in R. DDO to start A3 Pediatrics Vaccination on Oct 29

DAVAO CITY -  The province of Davao de Oro will start the vaccination of children aged 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities on October 29, 2021. Pediatric vax in the region may start by Nov – DOH XI

DAVAO CITY, Oct 19 (PIA) -  The Department of Health XI (DOH XI) is optimistic that Davao Region will be included in the Phase 3 implementation of the vaccination for individuals aged 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities by November this year. DOH XI Vaccination Program Focal Dr. Janis Olavides said that currently, vaccination is still done in the National Capital Region (NCR). Phase 3 of implementation will then follow including all regions which have exceeded 50% of their target senior citizen population. As of October 18, the Davao region has already covered 47% of the target number of senior citizens to be vaccinated. The local government units (LGUs) have been informed to strategize more to capture the unvaccinated senior citizens. Jose Abad Santos vaccination rate improves

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 15 (PIA) – Jose Abad Santos Mayor Jason John Joyce of Davao Occidental said that the vaccination rate in the municipality has recently improved due to the increased awareness among the constituents on the vaccination campaign against COVID-19.   Although the mayor admitted that there was vaccination hesitancy among their senior citizens, he said that the local government unit and the health care frontliners like the midwives and barangay health workers have never ceased explaining the importance of the vaccination.   “Never  tayo nagkaroon ng kakulangan sa mga bakuna mula sa  national government. 55.81% of Dabawenyos fully vaccinated

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 15 (PIA)- Davao City is inching its way into achieving COVID-19 herd immunity as 669,770 Dabawenyos (as of Oct. 9) are fully vaccinated which is equivalent to 55.81% of the city's population.   Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the focal person of Davao City’s Covid-19 Task Force said the numbers could go higher as vaccinations are still ongoing.   She said Davao City is targeting to achieve herd immunity by year end, which is 70 to 80% of the city’s population estimated at 1.2 million people.   Dr. Schlosser said that 66.08% (as of Oct. 9) or 792,932 individuals have already been vaccinated with the first dose.   To reach the herd immunity goal they are looking at several measures which include expanding Bakuna Nights or the nighttime vaccination. Vaccination in Davao Region now open for general population

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 12 (PIA) – All provinces in Davao Region are now ready to cater the remaining adult population who are not yet vaccinated as more COVID 19 vaccine deliveries arrive at the Davao International Airport. Earlier today, 114,000 doses of Coronavac vaccines from Sinovac were delivered to the region on board Cebu Pacific Cargo DG 5811. Last October 8, 64,350 doses of Pfizer BioNTech Comirnaty arrived at the DIA on board PAL PR 1809. A day earlier, 77,220 doses of the same brand of vaccine were received by the Department of Health XI (DOH). In a DOH XI press release, the office received a total of 994,500 doses of Pfizer BioNTech Comirnaty as donated by the United States Government through the COVAX facility.
