People want vaccines, they just lack the means to vax sites - Dr. Salva

Davao Del Norte's Vaccination Program Coordinator, Dr. Eleanor H. Salva

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Dec. 22 (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Davao Del Norte's Vaccination Program Coordinator, Dr. Eleanor H. Salva said that people are not hesitant to take the vaccines in Davao Del Norte. They just lack the means or vehicles in going to vaccination sites, she explained in a radio program today, December 22, 2021.

During her radio interview today, Dr. Salva reported the vaccination updates of the Province of Davao Del Norte including the top 3 local government units (LGUs) in terms of vaccination rate and those who are in the bottom 3 LGUs.

The Province of Davao Del Norte as of December 21, 2021, vaccinated 48.6% of its target population for herd immunity which is 744,405 residents out of 1,063,426 total population. She further said that 74% of it is already vaccinated with the first dose and there is still 26% who are unvaccinated.

Dr. Salva enumerated the top 3 LGUs with high vaccination rates.

As of December 21 data, the 3 municipalities with the highest vaccination rates are, Santo Tomas with 61.4%, Panabo with 57.2%, and Dujali with 56.9%. These are our LGUs in Davao Del Norte which topped our vaccination program.

Dr. Salva also mentioned the three LGUs in the bottom 3 regarding vaccination rates.

New Corella, 33.1% ug San Isidro 34.1%, (The three least performing municipalities in vaccination are Talaingod with 16.6%, New Corella with 33.1% and San Isidro with 34.1%),” she enumerated.

She also cited the reasons why some LGUs have very low vaccination rates.

So based on our monitoring Kuya Em, we really asked the people as we went to their places why their vaccinations rates are too low. Many residents wanted to get vaccinated but they just lack the means or vehicles to get to the vaccination sites),” Dr. Salva's said.

As a call to the LGUs, Dr. Salva urged them to bring their people to vaccination sites and provide them incentives.

These are our calls to local chief executives that they should help their constituents to bring their vaccinees to nearby vaccination sites and provide them with incentives),” she added. (PIA XI Davao del Norte/jmda/Ezri M.
