Comelec Davao continues call for new voters to go out and register

DAVAO CITY, Sept. 29 (PIA) – Despite having reached the target 4-million new voters last June 2021 as set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Davao City Comelec continues to remind qualified voters to register in order to exercise their electoral right. Guesting in the One Davao Virtual Presser, Atty. Mohammad Fyzee Alim of Comelec Davao First District that first time voters to go to the nearest Comelec office and bring any of the acceptable identification cards to be counted and be able to vote on the National Elections next year. Initially, the Comelec set September 30 as the last day of registration. In an update posted by Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez, he announced that the Comelec en banc has unanimously approved the extension of voter’s registration. This was confirmed in another post of Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon citing that voter registration extension is from October 11 to October 30, no Saturday schedule except October 30 which will cater to registrant

Davao Oriental placed under GCQ

  DAVAO CITY, Oct. 1 (PIA)- The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has placed the province of Davao Oriental under General Community Quarantine starting today October 1 until October 31.   Pursuant to the community quarantine classification the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental has released today (Oct. 1) Executive Order 22 series of 2021 which are guidelines implementing the GCQ in the province.   The new guidelines coincide with the filing of the certificate of candidacy for the coming 2022 national and local elections, with this the EO provided directives on Commission on Elections (Comelec) sanctioned activities.   Under Section 6 of EO 22. Devolution, a challenge to LGU leaders

Davao City LGU bent for incentivizing vaccination

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio (right standing) and Senator Sherwin Gatchalian (left) at the Bakuna by the Sea DAVAO CITY, Sept. 28 (PIA) – The local government of Davao City is now in discussion on implementing another strategy to speed up the vaccination program by offering incentives in exchange for getting vaccinated.   Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte bared in a radio program over Davao City Disaster Radio that the LGU is  now discussing to prepare two vaccination centers which may start to provide incentives.   Mayor Sara opted not to announce these vaccination centers yet as procedures on how to go about it is not yet finalized.   “Understandable naman pud gud ang incentivizing nato karon kay naan a ta sa point na ang mga dato dili na sila muadto sa vaccination sites kay mas importante sa ila ang ilang pang-adlaw adlaw. DavSur’s Tupad Pangako program welcomes 2nd batch of former rebels

BANSALAN, Davao del Sur, Sept. 27 (PIA) – The Tupad Pangako Program in Davao del Sur has opened anew an opportunity for the second batch of former rebels to be prepared in getting back a normal life.   The provincial government of Davao del Sur and the Task Force Balik Loob have welcomed on Friday (Sept. 24), 23 former rebels at the Mindanao Baptist Rural Life Center in Bansalan town, where the FRs will undergo a three-month livelihood and skills training.   Just like the first batch composed of 21 FRs who graduated in January this year, the new FR-trainees will learn on knowledge and practical skills on agriculture, welding, manicure, pedicure, massage, electrical, entrepreneurial, as well as on spiritual development, and among others.   “Maningkamot ko nga masabtan gyud nako. Nga tinud-anay na ,” FR alias Tatay Dudz, 62, said as he expected to learn much from the training which will ready him to embark on livelihood undertaking, and be reintegrated back to his family and community.  

Digos City LGU requires mandatory vaccination for all personnel

  DAVAO CITY, Sept. 27 (PIA) – The local government unit of Digos City has required the city LGU’s personnel including the plantilla, job order, contract of service and COVID-19 volunteers to undergo a mandatory vaccination. The LGU has issued Executive Order No. 40, Series of 2021 on September 24, 2021.   The said EO took effect on the same day, and gave the LGU personnel until November 30, 2021 to be fully vaccinated as sanctions may take place.   Atty. Marty Basunillo, Digos City LGU acting administrator, said the order aims to promote the vaccination program and attain herd immunity.   In a press conference on September 24, Basunillo discussed the status of COVID-19 in the city as well as the EO where sanctions are set for those who will refuse to get vaccinated for some unjustifiable reason.    He cited that for the plantilla personnel, sanctions will be suspension for one to six months for the 1 st  warning and dismissal of service.   The LGU may terminate the contract of job ord
