DAVAO CITY, Sept. 28 (PIA) – The local government of Davao City is now in discussion on implementing another strategy to speed up the vaccination program by offering incentives in exchange for getting vaccinated.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte bared in a radio program over Davao City Disaster Radio that the LGU is now discussing to prepare two vaccination centers which may start to provide incentives.
Mayor Sara opted not to announce these vaccination centers yet as procedures on how to go about it is not yet finalized.
“Understandable naman pud gud ang incentivizing nato karon kay naan a ta sa point na ang mga dato dili na sila muadto sa vaccination sites kay mas importante sa ila ang ilang pang-adlaw adlaw. Our incentives will be directed at that,” the mayor said.
The incentives may be in the form of food or gift certificate.
“We’ll try that in some of our vaccination centers, and then we’ll see kung daghan ba tao muadto sa vaccination centers,” she added.
It was reported in the same radio program that the city is still looking for 438,000 individuals who are yet to receive their first dose of COVID19 vaccine. This is the backlog that the city is now working on to reach a herd immunity which is 1.2 million.
Those who have not yet vaccinated are mostly those who do not believe on the effectivity of vaccines and those daily wage earners who were not willing to skip their work for vaccination.
With these profile of the unvaccinated, the Davao City official announced that mobile vaccination would still continue and even intensify the “Bakuna Nights” or the vaccination schedule intended for workers who may proceed to the vaccination site after their work. Bakuna nights are open from 5PM to 7:30 PM.
The Davao City Health data showed that COVID-related deaths from September 19 to 25 is 85; 78 or 91.76 percent of the total deaths are unvaccinated; 7 are vaccinated; 3 already got their first dose; while 4 are fully vaccinated.
Of the 2,431 active cases on the same period, 2,107 or 86.87 percent are unvaccinated; while 324 are vaccinated; 67 got their first dose. (PIA XI/Frances Mae Macapagat)
