Police identifies elections areas of concern in R-XI

DAVAO CITY, Jan. 26 (PIA) - The Police Regional Office XI has defined the areas of concern for this year’s national and local elections. Speaking in the AFP-PNP Press Corps briefing, Major Eudisan Gultiano, spokesperson of the PRO XI revealed that an area is considered hotspot due to factors namely the occurrence of election-related violent incidents, vulnerability to the attacks of communist terror group and intense political rivalry. She said the areas of concern for Davao Region are Digos City, Kiblawan and Matan-ao in Davao del Sur and Pantukan and Monkayo, Davao de Oro.   “There was an election-related violent incident in Digos City in the past while Kiblawan and Matan-ao were vulnerable to the attack of the rebels with their location in the hinterlands.   On the other hand, there was intense political rivalry in Pantukan and Monkayo before,” Gultiano said. Presence of Omicron in Davao Region confirmed

DAVAO CITY, January 20 (PIA)—The head of the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Davao Region Center for Health and Development bared that the Omicron variant of COVID-19 has been here since December 11, 2021 due to its high transmissibility and movement of people during the holidays, given the genome sequencing detected from the samples sent to the University of the Philippines-Philippine Genome Center in Manila.   Dr. Rachel Joy Pasion, chief of the RESU of the Department of Health XI bared that out of the 35-specimen sent to the UP-PGC, five samples from Davao Region turned out to be that of the Omicron Variant. She revealed that all of these patients were healed, but through genome sequencing it was found out that their COVID-19 infection was caused by the Omicron variant. Davao Region reaches 80% vaccination rate

DAVAO CITY, Jan. 18 (PIA) – The Davao Region has so far vaccinated 80.8% of the target herd immunity or at least 70% of its target population. The Regional Vaccination Operation Center, in a meeting today, reported that 3,037,198 with at least one dose have been vaccinated. Said number is considered a significant reduction from the region’s target population of 5,371,254. The Davao Region has also reached 70.1% of the target for individuals receiving the second dose. So far, based on the same target population there are still 722,680 individuals who have yet to be vaccinated or 19.2% of the target population. “ We thank all our partners, for helping us achieve this number of vaccinated individuals. However, we still have many unvaccinated in the region. Davao Region registers 6.0 inflation rate in Sept

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Oct. 22 (PIA) –-- Davao Region’s inflation rate in September 2021 registered at 6.0 percent after soaring at 6.7 percent in July.   The spikes in inflation rates in Davao Region were   revealed during the virtual Data Dissemination Forum on Consumers Price Index (CPI) yesterday conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region XI.   Presentations and discussions on the inflation rates drawn from the CPI in 2021 were highlighted.  In her presentation, Information Officer I, Kathlen A. Aparece of PSA XI defined the CPI and explained its uses. "Consumers Price Index is the indicator of the change in the average retail prices of a fixed basket of goods and services commonly purchased by households relative to a base year," she said. IATF places DavOcc on Alert Level 4; Davao City,DavNor on Alert 3

The province of Davao Occidental was categorized under Alert Level 4 by the IATF DAVAO CITY, October 18 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI announced in today’s virtual presser that Davao Occidental was categorized by the Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) under Alert Level 4; Davao City and Davao del Norte on Alert Level 3 while Davao de Oro , Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental are placed on Alert Level 2.
