Police identifies elections areas of concern in R-XI



DAVAO CITY, Jan. 26 (PIA) - The Police Regional Office XI has defined the areas of concern for this year’s national and local elections.

Speaking in the AFP-PNP Press Corps briefing, Major Eudisan Gultiano, spokesperson of the PRO XI revealed that an area is considered hotspot due to factors namely the occurrence of election-related violent incidents, vulnerability to the attacks of communist terror group and intense political rivalry.


She said the areas of concern for Davao Region are Digos City, Kiblawan and Matan-ao in Davao del Sur and Pantukan and Monkayo, Davao de Oro. 


“There was an election-related violent incident in Digos City in the past while Kiblawan and Matan-ao were vulnerable to the attack of the rebels with their location in the hinterlands.  On the other hand, there was intense political rivalry in Pantukan and Monkayo before,” Gultiano said.


She said in Davao Region, there was no private armed groups employed by politicians.


Colonel Consolito Yecla, commander of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade bared the Army supports the police in giving security to areas of concern.


He said the Army will give focus on areas where trouble can be instigated by the rebels.


Yecla underscored the presence of government troops in areas which are not covered by the police.


He also disclosed that Paquibato District in Davao City was cleared with the presence of communist rebels in November 2021 with the dismantling of the guerrilla front 55 following the deaths due to military operation and the eventual surrender of its leaders.


He said that in order to sustain the gains of their effort, 100 peace builders are now trained and deployed in Paquibato District and Talaingod, Davao del Norte.


“Peace builders are former members of the underground organization affiliated with the New People’s Army who now serve as eyes and ears in helping the Peace 911 pursue their activities in the area,” Yecla said.  (PIA XI/Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)

DOH XI hires more nurses, doctors

DAVAO CITY, September 6 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI bared its emergency hiring for nurses and doctors following the need to augment the personnel requirement of COVID19 hospitals from all over the region. The head of the DOH XI Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Dr. Rachel Pasion, in today’s DOH Virtual Presser reported that in Davao City alone combining both the COVID19 hospitals and the private hospitals have utilized 674 COVID19 beds out of the 830 beds or 79.4 utilization rate. This brings the region’s critical care utilization at a high risk level. The Southern Philippine Medical Center, in the past few days, released an advisory informing the public that it has been experiencing an unusually high volume of patients needing admission for COVID19. Mati City releases new tricycle fare guidelines

DAVAO ORIENTAL, Apr. 6 (PIA) -- The City Government of Mati has issued a new set of tricycle fare guidelines due to the increase in gasoline prices over the past weeks.   Under the City Ordinance No. 527 Series of 2022 or the "Ordinance Imposing the Regulation of Fare and Motorized  Tricycle-for-Hire in the City of Mati," the minimum fares are peg on the prevailing fuel prices. If the gasoline prices would hover at P40.00 to P49.99 per liter the minimum fare would be pegged at P9.00. If fuel prices are at P50.00 to P69.99/liter, minimum fare would be at P12.00 The current minimum fare is now P14.00 as the price of gasoline is between P70.00 to P89.99 per liter.   If the gasoline increase would go from P90.00 to P99.00/liter, the minimum fare will be P15.00. The price of gasoline is not the only indicator of the passenger's fare.
