 Davao Oriental Federation of Former Rebels formed, new officers elected


DAVAO CITY, Feb. 11 (PIA)- The Davao Oriental Federation of Former Rebels was formed as the 10 existing associations of former rebels have elected their new officers.


The formation of the DOFFR was realized during the first provincial assembly of former rebels associations held today (Feb. 11) at the Provincial Capitol in Mati City.


“This will further strengthen the engagement of our FRs with the government. So instead of being scattered, they will become an active part of the province’s aims and goals to build lasting peace and development in our province,” said Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) Vice-Chairman Ednar G. Dayanghirang who attended the assembly.


Dayanghirang said the former rebels’ federation in the province was a result of President Rodrigo Duterte’s EO 70 that calls for the whole-of-nation approach in ending the communist armed conflict that involves government agencies and offices in responding to the needs of the communities particularly those of the former rebels.


Joining Dayanghirang include the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Director Orle Cabaobao, and representatives from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Philippine National Police, and the Philippine Army. 


Former Rebel Dominador Estrera alyas Domeng, was elected as the president.


Domeng said the Federation wants to form cooperatives engage in poultry and livestock, copra trading and establishing groceries for the different associations.


The new officers took their oath before DILG Provincial Director Orle Cabaobao.


The officers are tasked to organize different chapters and coordinate with the various government agencies and partners in the private sector for their various programs and projects. (PIA/RG Alama)

LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. The traffic official emphasized that LTO XI has apprehended a total of 115 colorum vehicles from January to April 2024. Calderon also provided tips to identify colorum vehicles. Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. The Darong Import Facility has a rated capacity of 67-million liters of petroleum products.   The import facility will help and promote business continuity and stability in the area by providing needed fuel resources for mobility during storms, floods and other calamities.
