DAVAO CITY, May 27 (PIA) - Seven families are set to arrive in Davao del Norte soon after the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has given its go signal following the validation for them to qualify as beneficiaries of the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag asa Program (BP2P).
In the One Davao Virtual Presser, PSWDO focal for the BP2P Lanny Guinit bared that out of the 46 families who initially sent their application thru the BP2P website, only 7 families are ready to be relocated in Davao del Norte.
"Some who initially sent their application have withdrawn while some are asking for more time before getting dispatched to the province," Guinit said.
The seven families approved and validated by the PSWDO are set to arrive the soonest. Members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the BP2P Davao del Norte have consolidated the services ready to be offered to the beneficiaries.
Guinit said that the TWG has learned lessons from the implementation of the program for the first batch of beneficiaries who arrived in Davao del Norte last year.
She said a better whole-of-nation approach is being prepared by the PLGU together with the welcoming local government units to ensure that family beneficiaries will receive ample assistance from the government that will enable them to recover and start life anew in the province.
The PSWDO focal shared that family beneficiaries in the first batch initially number six.
However, one family was turned-over to Laak, Davao de Oro because it is where they originally resided. Another family was also advised to return to the National Capital Region (NCR) due to health condition of a family member.
The BP2P TWG clarified that it has become more stringent now in assessing the readiness of applicants before getting the approval of the TWG. One important requirement that the TWG ensures is the availability of a house owned or rented by the family beneficiary in their desired municipality.
Guinit said that this is one crucial requirement for an applicant to get approved for the program as there is no housing provision yet included in the program.
The PSWDO, however, provides shelter assistance amounting to P50,000 per family which they may use to be housing materials for home improvement or repair. (PIA XI/Frances Mae Macapagat)
