Don Marcelino national high school, first to implement F2F classes in Davao Occidental

DAVAO CITY, May 27 (PIA) – The Luisa Joyce Mallari National High School of Barangay Lapuan, Don Marcelino town is the first secondary school to have been approved to implement the progressive face-to-face classes in the entire province of Davao Occidental.

The face-to-face classes in said school started on May 16, 2022, with 41 students from Grades 9, 10 and 12 included in the first set of students.

In the flag raising ceremony on the first day of classes, Schools Division Superintendent of Davao Occidental, Dr. Lorenzo E. Mendoza shared a message to the students, teachers and staff.

“I am looking forward that this opening will be the beginning of a new hope for everyone. We are back here, we need to be happy and thank the Lord that this is really happening,” Mendoza stated.

The Luisa Joyce Mallari National High School is the first school in the province to have obtained the recommendation of the Provincial Health Office and approval of the provincial local government and Department of Education to hold progressive face-to-face classes.

Nora C. Bueno, LJMNHS school head, said that they have started preparing for the limited face-to-face classes in January this year, where they encountered challenges during the process of approval.

“We are very lucky that our Honorable Governor Claude Bautista approved the opening of the limited face-to-face classes. We meet trials and challenges but with God’s grace and with the collaboration of the internal and external stakeholders, we made it. We accomplished these together,” Bueno stated.

The parents, stakeholders, local government units and barangay officials have also shown their support on the face-to-face classes, and were also excited for the students.

“I’m so honored to be the first school-secondary school in Don Marcelino to open this milestone. Thank you for all the support from the division office, from the LGU officials,” said Aldrin G. Bueno, the Public Schools District Supervisor of Don Marcelino. (PIA-XI/Franchette Delfin)

Though we are young, though we are still around two-years old from the time we were launched, I say we are fortunate because we did not start from zero. We were a campus of SPAMAST such that there wer...
