PhilHealth-XI calls on members to register with “Konsulta Package”

DAVAO CITY, May 30 (PIA) – An official of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation in the region has called on all members to register with PhilHealth “Konsultang Sulit at Tama” Package to avail of the outpatient health services.

Johanna Blason, PhilHealth-XI press relations officer, explained that the Konsulta package is an expansion of primary care benefit which is newly-implemented, to cover all Filipinos as mandated by the Universal Health Care Law.

It offers the comprehensive outpatient health services such as initial and follow-up primary care consultations, health screening and assessment and access to selected diagnostic services, and medicines.

“This is what we have been clamoring and waiting for, to have outpatient health services… This is to prevent us from getting sick or for our sickness to get worst. We don’t need to be hospitalized to avail of Philhealth services,” Blason stated.

She bared that there are 13 laboratory and diagnostics examinations which can be availed of for free, such as complete blood count with platelet count, urinalysis, fecalysis, sputum microscopy, fecal occult blood, pap smear, lipid profile, fasting blood sugar, oral glucose tolerance test, electrocardiogram, creatinine and HbA1c.

There are also 21 drugs and medicines covered by the package, under the following categories: anti-microbial, fluid and electrolytes, anti-asthma, anti-pyretics, anti-diabetic, anti-dyslipidemia, anti-hypertensives, anti-thrombotics and anti-histamine.

Blason said that to avail of the services, the members including their qualified dependents have to enroll with PhilHealth’s Konsulta package registry where they can choose one accredited service provider which is accessible or nearest to their residence or workplace.

Early this year, PhilHealth has started enlisting members and their dependents into the system. But, Blason bared that only 1,500 have registered from Davao City.

“That’s why we need to intensify our information dissemination to let the people in the region know of the konsulta package,” she said.

As of April 30, 2022, the following are the accredited Konsulta package providers in Davao City: Mintal Health Center, Agdao Health Center, Davao City Health Office Dispensary, Jacinto Health Center, Mini Forest Health Center, Talomo Central Health Center, Tomas Claudio Health Center, Toril Center A Health Center, Toril Urban Center B Health Center, Baguio District Health Center, Buhangin Health Center, Bunawan Health Center, Calinan Health Center, Marilog Health Center, Paquibato Health Center, Sasa Health Center, SIR Health Center and Talomo South Health Center (Puan).

In Davao Oriental, the following are the accredited providers: Awuyon Community Municipal Hospital in Governor Generoso; City Health Office of Mati; Davao Oriental Provincial Hospitals in Cateel, Governor Generoso, Lupon and Manay; Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in Mati; Rural Health Unit of Lupon; Municipal Health Office of Banaybanay in Caraga; and Rural Health Unit of San Isidro.

The Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital in Pantukan and Davao del Norte Hospital Carmen Zone are also accredited.

Blason said that the Konsulta package services can be availed of within the year, and registration is yearly, adding that members can select another provider in the following year.

She also encouraged more health providers, especially in Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental to register to be able to provide services to the provinces’ constituents. (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)
