DAVAO CITY- Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio personally thanked visiting Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, representing the Gatchalian family for sponsoring the Bakuna by the Sea Vaccination Site situated inside the family-owned Watefront Insular Hotel Davao.
Senator Gatchalian and Mayor Duterte-Carpio on Friday (Sept. 17) toured the vaccination site dubbed as the most beautiful vaccination site in the country as it is located inside a picturesque seaside garden.
Bakuna by the Sea which started as a vaccination hub in June this year, has inoculated over 14,000 tourism industry workers in Davao City and the adjacent provinces. It was realized thru the partnership of the City Government of Davao, Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao and the tourism industry stakeholders led by the Davao Tourism Association (DATA).
“I wanted to personally thank the Gatchalian family thru Senator Sherwin sa malaking tulong nila sa Davao City kasi yung ginawa nilang Bakuna by the Sea hindi basta basta yun, they all paid for it sa kanila yung facility, sa kanila yung mga tao and the City Government was only a witness doon sa tulong nila sa vaccination program ng government,” Mayor Duterte said.
“Itong Bakuna natin isang maliit na proyekto para makabalik na tayo sa normal (This vaccination is a small project so we can return to normal),” Senator Gatchalian said of the Bakuna By the Sea.
The Mayor and the Senator were toured around the Garden Pavilion located amidst the sprawling seaside hotel garden which serves as the vaccination site. Joining them were City Tourism Operations head Generose Tecson, Davao Tourism Association president Gatchi Gatchalian and vaccination in-charge Elinor Marcelino alongside officers of the Waterfront Insular Hotel.
The BBTS then gave a wooden eagle sculpture to the Senator as a token of gratitude for the Gatchalian family's generosity in making the vaccination site a success.
Senator Gatchalian lauded the Bakuna by the Sea for vaccinating the tourism industry workers. “I’m happy that 90% of our tourism sector workers were vaccinated, ang laking bagay nun (that’s a big thing)
The current Bakuna by the Sea is servicing different sectors in the city after successfully vaccinating an estimated 14,000 tourism workers in the City. (PIA/RG Alama)
