New TF Davao chief eyes culture of security vs terrorism

DAVAO CITY, July 7 (PIA)—The new Task Force Davao commander mulled of implementing the culture of security to guard the city against terrorism.

 

Colonel Darren Comia, new commander of the Task Force Davao said the culture of security was initially implemented during the pre-pandemic times when the performance started.

 

He credited Colonel Constancio Yecla for introducing the culture of security and told his men to enhance the security of the city and advocate relentlessly down to the grassroots level, or the barangays the security measure. 

 

“All residents must be aware of the kind of security we are implementing here,” Comia said.

 

He was the former Battalion Commander of the 16th Army Battalion assigned in Davao del Norte in the 1003rd Brigade covering Paquibato District assumed as the new commander of the Task Force Davao. 

 

Comia recalled witnessing the turn-over ceremony when Yecla assumed as TF Davao commander where he surmised that the role as the over-all leader of the unit is challenging.

 

He said he just let destiny to prosper until he was assigned to the new post. 

 

Comia bared many other military officers were candidates for the post. 

“Nagpasalamat ko sa board of Army officers, mga taga-Dabaw ug ni Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio sa pagsalig Kanako,” he said. 

 

Comia is a member of the PMA Class 1994, residing in Lipa City, Batangas.

 

He planned on taking advantage the health protocols and status and train its personnel to prepare them in the possible lifting of the protocols and the possible economic boom of Davao City. 

 

Comia said before the status level of the city is raised, the TF Davao is prepared. 

 

“We will conduct relentless trainings, so that we will be prepared for any eventuality by then,” he said. 

 

Comia called for support and trust to the implementation of security measures with the Davaoenos particularly the realization of the culture of security.

LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro.
