Davao Region still has 1M unvaccinated

DAVAO CITY, April 21 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI reported that there are still 1,069,299 unvaccinated individuals in the region. Data as of April 18 showed that the region has so far fully vaccinated 3,048,570 individuals or 69.3% of the target population which is 4,397,683. This number shows a slim margin from those 3,328,384 individuals who have received their first dose. Only 424,084 individuals or 9.6% have received their booster or additional dose. Davao City has already reached 84.6% for the fully vaccinated while 86.6% received their first dose only. The city also received minimal takers of the booster shot with only 242,414 individuals out of the 1,531,004 target individuals. In the entire Davao Region, the Davao Oriental province and Davao del Norte showed the highest percentage of fully vaccinated with 66.1% and 66.8% respectively. Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. The Darong Import Facility has a rated capacity of 67-million liters of petroleum products.   The import facility will help and promote business continuity and stability in the area by providing needed fuel resources for mobility during storms, floods and other calamities. MinDA initiates “Voluntourismo” project in Siargao

DAVAO CITY- The Mindanao Development Authority is initiating a tourism-volunteer project in Siargao dubbed as “Voluntourismo” The project held in partnership with the Department of Tourism and local government units in the island intends to attract tourists to Siargao who would want to participate as volunteers in community projects across the island which was hard-hit by Typhoon Odette. MinDA Assistant Secretary Romeo Montenegro said they are targeting 100,000 tourists to join the project for the two months of Summer. “ They will engage in projects in the community but will also allow them to enjoy the island,” Montenegro said. DAVAO CITY, April 21 (PIA)- The City Government of Davao is eyeing a face-to-face celebrations of the Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival this year. “It's like going on to the new normal and embracing the reality that like it or not COVID is still around but we shouldn’t let it stop us. DavOr PIO conducts polls live coverage workshop

MATI, DAVAO ORIENTAL, April 19 (PIA)- A one-day workshop on news live coverage for the coming May 9 national and local elections in Davao Oriental was conducted yesterday (April 18) at the Kanato Hall in the Provincial Tourism Complex, Mati City. The workshop aims to capacitate local information officers, Police Community Relations Office personnel in providing news during the conduct of the polls. “This is the first time we will be holding a live coverage of the elections, as much as we wanted the people to be updated about the developments we the Provincial Information Office cannot do it alone,” says PIO head Karen Lou Deloso. Malalag’s local public transport plan approved

DAVAO CITY, Apr. 19 (PIA) – Regional Director Nonito Llanos III of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region XI has awarded the municipality of Malalag in Davao del Sur the approved local public transport plan on Monday (Apr. 18).   After thorough evaluation, the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) of the local government of Malalag was found to be consistent with Department Order No. 2017-011 of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and with all other pertinent Memorandum Circular of LTFRB.   The DOTr, LTFRB’s Regional Franchising and Regulatory Office (RFRO) and other third-party consultants have evaluated Malalag’s LPTRP.   The LPTRP is the biggest non-infra project of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wherein the bus transport system is similar to the city of Singapore. 43 ex-NPA in Davao de Oro get PhP 10K each

DAVAO CITY, Apr. 19 (PIA) - Some 43 former members of the New People’s Army received PhP 10,000 each as financial assistance from the Davao de Oro provincial government.   The distribution was conducted at the Children’s Park of the Capitol grounds in Nabunturan on April 11, 2022.   According to the Oplan Pagbabago Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC), the former rebels surrendered to authorities in Davao de Oro in 2020 and 2021.   The former rebels were also enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, in which each of them can get PhP 15,000 – 65,000.   Aside from those monetary assistance, the former rebels were also enrolled in other programs of the national and local government units. (PIA XI/ Michael Uy)
