Davao City eyes face-to-face Kadayawan Festival



DAVAO CITY, April 21 (PIA)- The City Government of Davao is eyeing a face-to-face celebrations of the Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival this year.


“It's like going on to the new normal and embracing the reality that like it or not COVID is still around but we shouldn’t let it stop us. We have surpassed herd immunity already so we can already face Covid head on,” says Generose Tecson, City Tourism Operations Office OIC.


Due to the pandemic the past two Kadayawan Festivals were online celebrations with recorded performances, documentaries and livestreaming events marking the festival. These were far-cry than the grand festive celebrations the Kadayawan was known for. 


“No More” Tecson replied when asked if the City will be holding another fully online Kadayawan festival. 


The City’s tourism chief said they are actually preparing for both hybrid and full face-to-face celebrations but are inclined on full face-to-face festivities.


A regular tourism drawer for the City, the pre-pandemic Kadayawan Festival in 2019 drew around 250,000 visitors during the month-long celebration and earned an income of P6.15- billion of which P1.92 billion was the recorded tourism receipts and P4.23 billion worth of economic benefits from the deluge of visitors in the city. Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro.
