DavOr PIO conducts polls live coverage workshop


MATI, DAVAO ORIENTAL, April 19 (PIA)- A one-day workshop on news live coverage for the coming May 9 national and local elections in Davao Oriental was conducted yesterday (April 18) at the Kanato Hall in the Provincial Tourism Complex, Mati City.


The workshop aims to capacitate local information officers, Police Community Relations Office personnel in providing news during the conduct of the polls.


“This is the first time we will be holding a live coverage of the elections, as much as we wanted the people to be updated about the developments we the Provincial Information Office cannot do it alone,” says PIO head Karen Lou Deloso.


Deloso said they are tapping the municipal information officers and the police in providing the news on the ground this coming election.


The so-called force multipliers in news gathering and reporting were trained on mobile video journalism, writing news reports, radio live reporting and election protocols. With personnel from the regional office of the Philippine Information Agency assisting them.


The day-long activity gave the PIO and the participants an opportunity to level off with one another. “ We want na ma-uniform ang reporting and organize and we want to know unsa gyud ang information na kinihanglan (We want our reporting to be uniform and organize and to determine what information is needed),” Deloso said.


Commission on Elections Provincial Elections Supervisor Atty. Samantha Krisna Caballero, Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office Provincial Director P/ Col. Efren Orlina and Philippine Information Agency Assistant Regional Head Frances Mae Macapagat also graced the workshop.


The workshop was organized by the the Provincial Information Office of Davao Oriental together with the Philippine Information Agency,  the Commission and Elections, and the Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office (PIA/RG Alama)

Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. The traffic official emphasized that LTO XI has apprehended a total of 115 colorum vehicles from January to April 2024. Calderon also provided tips to identify colorum vehicles.
