Malalag’s local public transport plan approved

DAVAO CITY, Apr. 19 (PIA) – Regional Director Nonito Llanos III of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region XI has awarded the municipality of Malalag in Davao del Sur the approved local public transport plan on Monday (Apr. 18).

After thorough evaluation, the Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) of the local government of Malalag was found to be consistent with Department Order No. 2017-011 of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and with all other pertinent Memorandum Circular of LTFRB.

The DOTr, LTFRB’s Regional Franchising and Regulatory Office (RFRO) and other third-party consultants have evaluated Malalag’s LPTRP.

The LPTRP is the biggest non-infra project of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wherein the bus transport system is similar to the city of Singapore. It is expected to be inaugurated in Davao City next year.

"I'm very glad that I'm back here bringing good news to the people of Malalag, most especially to our riding public, because sooner you will be experiencing a ride which is world-class," Llanos stated during the awarding ceremony.

Among the nine (9) municipalities of the province of Davao del Sur, the municipality of Malalag is the first to receive a notice of compliance of the LPTRP.

As proposed, there will be 15 modernized jeepneys with air-condition, WIFI, GPS and CCTV to soon traverse the route of Brgy. Tagansule to Brgy. Caputian in the municipality.

The said project will pave the way for modernizing the transport system in Malalag. (PIA-XI Franchette Delfin/Malalag LGU)
