Deped opens 5 schools in DDO for F2F classes

DAVAO CITY, Nov. 15 (PIA) - - The Department of Education (DepEd) opened on Monday, face-to-face classes in five schools in Davao de Oro. The identified schools are Bares Elementary School (Pagsabangan Extension), Parasan Integrated School, Lower Panansalan Elementary School (Jacinto Extension), Maugat Elementary School, and Digaynon Integrated School (Manurigao Extension).   Located in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, the five schools are among the eight educational institutions in Davao Region that were allowed by DepEd for face-to-face classes. A total of 338 pupils attended the first day of in-person classes in the province. During the kick off program, the students received tablets from DepEd, milk feeding supplies under the Kusina ng Kalinga (KNK) universal feeding program, and workbook under Bayanihan Para sa Karunungan (BPSK) – iDdO Read Project. 834 inmates avail Eskwelda

DAVAO DE ORO, November 4 (PIA) - - A total of 834 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in Davao de Oro have availed of Alternative Learning System (ALS) education and skills training through the Eskwela sa Selda or Eskwelda.   Launched in 2019, the Davao de Oro Provincial Youth Development Council reached out to 804 persons housed in Montevista District Jail, and 30 persons in Provincial Rehabilitation Center.   Janice Clarion, provincial youth development officer, bared in an interview that the provincial government allocated PhP 2 million for the financial assistance of the learners worth PhP 2,000 each.   However, she said, “the release of FA is by tranche so as not to merely serve as a dole out to our learners.”   Clarion stressed that the program is in collaboration with the Department of Education ALS, and the Sangguniang Kabataan.   “The DepEd ALS provides the technical side of the program, the SK for the provision of school supplies to learners and the provincial government as rei

Peace efforts in DDO beget rise in competitiveness

DAVAO DE ORO, November 4 (PIA) - - The whole of nation approach to end local communist armed conflict (ELCAC) that is applied in Davao de Oro has raised the competitiveness index of the province. Tourism sustains in Davao de Oro amidst pandemic

DAVAO DE ORO, Nov. 4 (PIA) - The tourism industry in Davao de Oro has thrived even with the stricter regulations due to COVID-19 pandemic. During the PTV Network Briefing News, Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy disclosed that Davao de Oro placed fourth among all the provinces in the country in terms of domestic tourist arrivals in 2020. Governor Uy added that according to the data from the Department of Tourism (DOT), the province notched six ranks higher than in 2019, when Davao de Oro was at the tenth place. “This economic indicator is a big boost to our businessmen, resort owners, and MSMEs,” he said. DDO to start A3 Pediatrics Vaccination on Oct 29

DAVAO CITY -  The province of Davao de Oro will start the vaccination of children aged 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities on October 29, 2021. Monkayo installs Hypochlorinator to clean-up Pasian waters

(Photo from LGU Monkayo) DAVAO DE ORO, June 24 (PIA) - - Since bacteria in the water is considered the cause of the diarrhea outbreak in Barangay Pasian, the local government unit of Monkayo installed a hypochlorinator at the water system in the area. Municipal Information Officer Joseph Anthony Crizaldo said that they re-opened the water lines this afternoon, and ‘the water is now safe.’ As of June 23, 2021 1:00PM, the outbreak affected 256 households with 334 cases. Among those cases, four persons are still admitted to the medical facilities, and five person died, including a three days old baby. Border Control Update: DDO bars entry of 190 persons in Pasian

DAVAO DE ORO, June 22 (PIA) - Since the start of the implementation of the uniform guidelines on the regional border control, authorities in Davao de Oro has barred the entry of 190 persons at the checkpoint in Barangay Pasian, Monkayo from June 8 to 21, 2021.  Police Captain Marion Sibayan, 3rd platoon leader of the 1st DDO Provincial Mobile Force Company, revealed that the reason for the denial is mostly due to lack of RT-PCR test results.  “Aside from RT-PCR, ang uban kay non-essential ang lakaw; ug ang uban wala makapakita og documents, proof, or justification nga essential ilang lakaw,” PCpt.
