Border Control Update: DDO bars entry of 190 persons in Pasian

DAVAO DE ORO, June 22 (PIA) - Since the start of the implementation of the uniform guidelines on the regional border control, authorities in Davao de Oro has barred the entry of 190 persons at the checkpoint in Barangay Pasian, Monkayo from June 8 to 21, 2021.

 Police Captain Marion Sibayan, 3rd platoon leader of the 1st DDO Provincial Mobile Force Company, revealed that the reason for the denial is mostly due to lack of RT-PCR test results.

 “Aside from RT-PCR, ang uban kay non-essential ang lakaw; ug ang uban wala makapakita og documents, proof, or justification nga essential ilang lakaw,” PCpt. Sibayan said. (Aside from RT-PCR, the other (reason) is that their travel is considered non-essential; while other persons did not have documents, proof, or justification that their travel is essential.)

 The uniform guidelines on the regional border control is in accordance with Joint Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases XI and Regional Task Force Against COVID-19 (RIATF-RTF) Resolution No. 01, series of 2021.

 Among others, the resolution sets forth the guidelines on who are allowed entry in the region, which includes those considered as Authorized Persons outside Residence or APORs like health workers and government officials on official travel; returning residents with negative RT-PCR test results; non-residents with proof of their essential travel in the region; nonresident-tourist with booking confirmation, negative RT-PCR test result, and StaySafe.ph application; and passing through travelers.

The police captain also recalled an incident when all of the 12 passengers in a bus coming from Manila were denied entry. He disclosed that the passengers are from Manila, Leyte, and Samar, and were advised to go back to where they came from. (PIA11, Michael Uy)

DOH XI hires more nurses, doctors

DAVAO CITY, September 6 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI bared its emergency hiring for nurses and doctors following the need to augment the personnel requirement of COVID19 hospitals from all over the region. The head of the DOH XI Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Dr. Rachel Pasion, in today’s DOH Virtual Presser reported that in Davao City alone combining both the COVID19 hospitals and the private hospitals have utilized 674 COVID19 beds out of the 830 beds or 79.4 utilization rate. This brings the region’s critical care utilization at a high risk level. The Southern Philippine Medical Center, in the past few days, released an advisory informing the public that it has been experiencing an unusually high volume of patients needing admission for COVID19. Nickel mining site in Mati outside of protected areas

MATI CITY, DAVAO ORIENTAL- The nickel mining site of the Austral-Asia link Mining Corporation and Hallmark Mining Corporation is located outside of the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary and the Pujada Bay Seascape and Landscape. In a statement, the local government unit of Mati City said that the mining area is “four kilometers away from the boundary of the Pujada Bay Seascape which is a protected area and is also outside the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary which is a Unesco-heritage site.” The mining site located in Barangay Macambol in Mati City comprises a total area measuring 17,215.49 hectares.
