DAVAO CITY, Nov. 15 (PIA) - - The Department of Education (DepEd) opened on Monday, face-to-face classes in five schools in Davao de Oro.
The identified schools are Bares Elementary School (Pagsabangan Extension), Parasan Integrated School, Lower Panansalan Elementary School (Jacinto Extension), Maugat Elementary School, and Digaynon Integrated School (Manurigao Extension).
Located in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, the five schools are among the eight educational institutions in Davao Region that were allowed by DepEd for face-to-face classes.
A total of 338 pupils attended the first day of in-person classes in the province.
During the kick off program, the students received tablets from DepEd, milk feeding supplies under the Kusina ng Kalinga (KNK) universal feeding program, and workbook under Bayanihan Para sa Karunungan (BPSK) – iDdO Read Project.
Program coordinator Edu Macabatas disclosed that the provincial government also augmented four learning support aides per school under the BPSK program.
Macabatas also bared that the Provincial Capitol offices provided food packs for the volunteers, transportation augmentation, and health kit materials.
Meanwhile, Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy hopes that the traditional face-to-face class to all schools will be back soon.
“Hinaut unta nga sa dili layo nga panahon, makabalik na ang atong mga bata sa eskwelahan,” Governor Uy said. (I’m hoping in the soonest possible time, children can go back to school.) (PIA XI, Michael Uy)
