Davao del Sur coffee farmers dominate PCQC anew  

DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur, March 23 – Davao del Sur coffee farmers have proven to be the producers of the best Arabica coffee in the country as they cement their position in the top ranks of the Philippine Coffee Quality Competition this year.   Marifel Dela Cerna and Cherry Gil Cabanday of the Balutakay Coffee Farmers Cooperative (BACOFA COOP) snagged the Top 1 and Top 2 ranks, respectively, in the Arabica category.   The two coffee farmers bested all 45 entries submitted nationwide in this year’s PCQC under the Arabica category.                                           Dela Cerna now joins the ranks of Davao del Sur’s Marites Arellano and Marivic Dubria, who also topped the Arabica category in 2021 and 2019, respectively.   Dela Cerna credits her success to her mentors and to all institutions that helped their cooperative including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Agriculture (DA), ACDI/VOCA, among others.   She encouraged her fellow coffee farmers to co

DAVAO CITY, March 24 (PIA)—The Acting City Executive mulls of amending the city ordinance on Anti-Discrimination to include the peace champions or the former rebels who would like to be integrated in the mainstream society. MATI, Davao Oriental (PIA)- The Province of Davao Oriental was named as the 2021 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council   Gold Awardee during the 2020-2021 Davao Region Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Awards held on March 15 in Davao City. During the 2019 ADAC Performance Audit, Davao Oriental garnered a score of 100 functionality points with a corresponding adjectival functional rating of (Ideal) High Functionality.   Among the functionality score indicators are the creation and reorganization of Anti-Drug Abuse Council, allocation of funds, implementation of plans and programs, and the conduct of meetings and innovations. Davao Region set to hold Special Vaccination Days on March 29-31

DAVAO CITY, March 22 (PIA) – Following the gains of the recently held National Vaccination Day IV, the Davao Region is set to hold the Special Vaccination Days on March 29, 30, and 31. This time, the vaccination program is targeting to cover the primary and booster doses of 18 years old and above individuals as well as primary doses of 12 years old. The strategy employed for this Special Vaccination is “ Tutok and Suyod Barangay”, focusing the target unvaccinated population in every barangay. To ensure for a high turn-out of vaccination, municipalities will identify the top 3 to 5 barangays with the highest unvaccinated population. Davao Occidental General Hospital starts providing medical services
