Davao Region set to hold Special Vaccination Days on March 29-31


DAVAO CITY, March 22 (PIA) – Following the gains of the recently held National Vaccination Day IV, the Davao Region is set to hold the Special Vaccination Days on March 29, 30, and 31.

This time, the vaccination program is targeting to cover the primary and booster doses of 18 years old and above individuals as well as primary doses of 12 years old.

The strategy employed for this Special Vaccination is “ Tutok and Suyod Barangay”, focusing the target unvaccinated population in every barangay.

To ensure for a high turn-out of vaccination, municipalities will identify the top 3 to 5 barangays with the highest unvaccinated population.

The vaccination teams may proceed to neighboring barangay once done with the identified barangay.

The 18 years old and above vaccinees are recommended to get Janssen as primary dose while Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Sinovac, and Moderna for booster dose.

The 12 to 17 years old vaccinees will be receiving Pfizer or Moderna as primary dose.

The NVD IV resulted to a 92% accomplishment reaching 41,932 vaccinations as of March 19 out of the target for primary dose which is 45,650.

Individuals who got their booster dose during the NVD IV reached up to 11,048  or 41% of the 27,254 target.

In total, Davao Region reached 73% of its target for NVD IV which is 52,980 vaccinations. (PIA XI/Frances Mae Macapagat)

Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. The Darong Import Facility has a rated capacity of 67-million liters of petroleum products.   The import facility will help and promote business continuity and stability in the area by providing needed fuel resources for mobility during storms, floods and other calamities. LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. The traffic official emphasized that LTO XI has apprehended a total of 115 colorum vehicles from January to April 2024. Calderon also provided tips to identify colorum vehicles.
