Wear facemasks correctly- Coun. Bonguyan

DAVAO CITY, Jan. 21 (PIA)—A city councilor urged   the public to be extra-careful nowadays by wearing correctly the facemasks to avoid exposure from the COVID-19 infection.   Councilor Louie John Bonguyan, chair of the committee on energy of the 19 th City Council said COVID-19 infection has different symptoms ranging from flu-like symptoms to sinusitis.   “I’ve observed some would wear mask with their nose exposed.   They can get the virus or they themselves cause transmission, “Bonguyan said.   He said a resident must double the masks he wears and have themselves vaccinated or get booster shots, because of the rapid transmission of the COVID-19 infection.   Bonguyan bared that 90 percent of the people confined at the Southern Philipppines Medical Center is unvaccinated.   He confirmed having two vaccination roll outs already in his areas of responsibility like Buhangin Proper, Waan, Mandug, four barangays in Paquibato District particularly Pandaitan, Tapak, Colosas and Salapawan.  

DTI provides PHP 2.5M facilities to 3 groups in Davao de Oro

The identified cooperators of the SSF projects were VPI Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (VPI ARBCO), VPI Employees Cooperative (VPIEMPCO), and Maco Centro OFW Family Association (MACOFA).   A banana flour producing cooperative, VPIARBCO, received a biomass furnace (mechanical dryer) worth Php 1.68 million. VPIEMPCO obtained the first Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for a shared service facility in the province worth PhP 677,980. DOH XI communicates policy shift due to Omicron

DAVAO CITY, Jan 21 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI highlighted the recent policy shift of the government especially on quarantine guidelines due to the recent surge of cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) and some parts of the country. In a DOH virtual presser held Thursday, Dr. Rachel Joy Pasion of the DOH XI informed the updated guidelines on quarantine, isolation, and testing for COVID19 response and case management for the Omicron Variant. “Thru DOH DM 2022-0013, there were some revisions on the protocol as NCR experienced increase in the number of cases, there was a transmission of the virus which is 4.2% faster than the previous variants,” Dr. Pasion said. Tagum Rotarians, Tagum Coop haul P2 million relief for Odette victims

DAVAO DEL NORTE, 21 Jan (PIA)— Tagum City-based Rotary Clubs and Tagum Coop recently pooled together their resources to haul PhP2 million worth of  assorted assistance to Typhoon Odette victims in Surigao City.   In a report posted online by the Rotary Club of Tagum Golden L.A.C.E.S (Ladies in Action Committed to Effective Service), two-winged vans hauled relief packs of rice canned goods, noodles, mineral waters, tarpaulins and blankets.  Rotary Club of  Tagum North also  formed part  of  Tagum City-based Rotarians involved in  the relief distribution.   Conducted early January 2022, the Tagum Coop and Rotary Club outreach benefited 2,850 families in 14 barangays of Surigao City. Gov Uy energizes RPSB teams with gen sets

DAVAO DE ORO, January 21 (PIA) - - Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy turned over 27 generator sets to the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office (DDOPPO) for the Revitalized Police sa Barangay (RPSB) teams. The generator set with 1,000 watts capacity each were among the equipment that were sanctified during the Blessing Ceremony on Monday. Presence of Omicron in Davao Region confirmed

DAVAO CITY, January 20 (PIA)—The head of the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Davao Region Center for Health and Development bared that the Omicron variant of COVID-19 has been here since December 11, 2021 due to its high transmissibility and movement of people during the holidays, given the genome sequencing detected from the samples sent to the University of the Philippines-Philippine Genome Center in Manila.   Dr. Rachel Joy Pasion, chief of the RESU of the Department of Health XI bared that out of the 35-specimen sent to the UP-PGC, five samples from Davao Region turned out to be that of the Omicron Variant. She revealed that all of these patients were healed, but through genome sequencing it was found out that their COVID-19 infection was caused by the Omicron variant. Bolton Bridge II reopens for light vehicles

DAVAO CITY, Jan 20, 2022 (PIA)- In an advisory issued yesterday (Jan. 19) the Department of Public Works and Highways has reopened the Bolton Bridge II for light vehicular traffic. The DPWH-XI closed Bolton Bridge I and II to vehicular traffic after a massive fire destroyed 24 structures under the bridge. The closure would enable the agency to conduct inspection on the bridges. The closure of the Bolton Bridges resulted in traffic jams in the downtown area as vehicles crowded into alternative routes. Bolton Bridge II which normally handles the one-way northbound vehicular traffic was opened to two-way traffic on the afternoon of Jan. 19 for vehicles weighing 6 tons or less.   Meanwhile City Engineer’s Office OIC Atty.
