Wear facemasks correctly- Coun. Bonguyan




DAVAO CITY, Jan. 21 (PIA)—A city councilor urged   the public to be extra-careful nowadays by wearing correctly the facemasks to avoid exposure from the COVID-19 infection.  


Councilor Louie John Bonguyan, chair of the committee on energy of the 19th City Council said COVID-19 infection has different symptoms ranging from flu-like symptoms to sinusitis.  


“I’ve observed some would wear mask with their nose exposed.  They can get the virus or they themselves cause transmission, “Bonguyan said.  


He said a resident must double the masks he wears and have themselves vaccinated or get booster shots, because of the rapid transmission of the COVID-19 infection.  


Bonguyan bared that 90 percent of the people confined at the Southern Philipppines Medical Center is unvaccinated.  


He confirmed having two vaccination roll outs already in his areas of responsibility like Buhangin Proper, Waan, Mandug, four barangays in Paquibato District particularly Pandaitan, Tapak, Colosas and Salapawan.  


Bonguyan said that on January 22, there will be a vaccination roll out in Barangay Mandug.  


He revealed that the vaccination roll out is different from last year, because in 2022, they give the first dose, second dose, booster shots, and pediatric vaccination catering to everyone except those belonging to eleven years old and below.  


“As long as the vaccines available from the first dose vaccine, we give the second dose of vaccination,” he said.  


Bonguyan stressed they also consider the distance of the barangays to each other in giving the vaccines.  


He observed that  Buhangin Proper is one of the most problematic areas of his assignment being the most highly populated barangays in the city which is often included in critically risk areas.  


Bonguyan said the barangay needs to vaccinate 50,000 residents in the area to attain herd immunity.  


He said with the Omicron variant of COVID-19, transmission is imminent.  


“We could not lockdown this barangay because of its many ways to get in and to get out,” Bonguyan said.  


He observed the Southern Philippines Medical Center is located in Buhangin Proper, and whoever becomes COVID-19 positive at the SPMC would also be taken in as data for Barangay Buhangin Proper.     


On January 25 and 26, Bonguyan said they will cater to Barangay San Isidro, in Bunawan for second dose for Astra Zeneca.  


He said first dose was conducted in December, being the least to be vaccinated in the number of residents.  (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)

DOH XI hires more nurses, doctors

DAVAO CITY, September 6 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI bared its emergency hiring for nurses and doctors following the need to augment the personnel requirement of COVID19 hospitals from all over the region. The head of the DOH XI Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Dr. Rachel Pasion, in today’s DOH Virtual Presser reported that in Davao City alone combining both the COVID19 hospitals and the private hospitals have utilized 674 COVID19 beds out of the 830 beds or 79.4 utilization rate. This brings the region’s critical care utilization at a high risk level. The Southern Philippine Medical Center, in the past few days, released an advisory informing the public that it has been experiencing an unusually high volume of patients needing admission for COVID19. Mati City releases new tricycle fare guidelines

DAVAO ORIENTAL, Apr. 6 (PIA) -- The City Government of Mati has issued a new set of tricycle fare guidelines due to the increase in gasoline prices over the past weeks.   Under the City Ordinance No. 527 Series of 2022 or the "Ordinance Imposing the Regulation of Fare and Motorized  Tricycle-for-Hire in the City of Mati," the minimum fares are peg on the prevailing fuel prices. If the gasoline prices would hover at P40.00 to P49.99 per liter the minimum fare would be pegged at P9.00. If fuel prices are at P50.00 to P69.99/liter, minimum fare would be at P12.00 The current minimum fare is now P14.00 as the price of gasoline is between P70.00 to P89.99 per liter.   If the gasoline increase would go from P90.00 to P99.00/liter, the minimum fare will be P15.00. The price of gasoline is not the only indicator of the passenger's fare.
