DILG XI LTIA focal Jessica Itil told Philippine Information Agency Davao del Norte Infocen that incentives to all ranking Lupong Tagapamaya  are given in the form of  “Development Grants” based on the project designs they have submitted to Regional Awards Committee headed by DILG XI.

An initiative of DILG, the LTIA was set in 1997 as a means of providing incentives to the Lupong Tagapamayapa  assessed to have delivered “exemplary performance in settling disputes at the grassroots level.”

DILG explains that the Lupong Tagapamayapa headed by the Punong Barangay (Barangay Captain) operationalizes the Katarungang Pambarangay which is a system to amicably settle disputes at the barangay level.
