Presented during a turnover rites at the Davao del Norte Tahanan ng Lalawigan on Nov 22, they were members of Sub-regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU), Sub-regional Committee (SRC) 5, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SRMC).

Ata-Manobo residents in the hinterlands of  the Municipality of Talaingod, the 30 out of 31 surrenderees attended the turning over of firearms to Provincial Governor Edwin I. Jubahib and 10th Inf “Agila” Division commander, Major General Ernesto C. Torres Jr.

Presented in the turnover ceremony was the video from Jubahib sent to Datu Eloy Bontolan of Sitio Pongpong, leading the latter and his group to surrender.

"Ang focus sa atong gobyerno karon nga magkahiusa ta. Wala nay mahitabong kasamok labi na sa inyong lugar sa Talaingod ug dinhi sa atong probinsya sa Davao Del Norte," (The focus of our government now is for us to unite. There will be no more trouble especially in your area of Talaingod and here in our province of Davao Del Norte), Jubahib said.

Jubahib and Councilor Gerardo Colobong, the Committee Chairman of peace and order of the Municipality of Talaingod, acknowledged the contribution  of the National Task Force To End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in the mass surrender of CPP-NPA-NDF happening in the country.

"Ang programa pod nato sa national government, kaning NTF-ELCAC, naa pod halaga o katumbas ang kining inyong mga armas nga gisurrender. Ug matag-usa sa inyo kay regular NPAs man mo, naa sab katumbas na kantidad nga madawat gikan sa national government sa atong Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte," (Our national government program, the NTF-ELCAC, also is giving equivalent value of these weapons you surrendered. And each of you as regular NPAs, will also be receiving equivalent amount from the national government of our President Rodrigo Roa Duterte), Jubahib explained.

"Mahinumduman nato, sa paglingkod sa atong Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte, ania ang program nga NTF-ELCAC, kamo gyud ang number one nga makabenepisyo niana," (if we can remember, the NTF ELCAC came when President Rodrigo Roa Duterte assumed office and you are the primary beneficiaries of that), Colobong said.

Colobong also mentioned the position of Jubahib's administration in the combat against CPP-NPA-NDF.

"Sa paglingkod ni Kuya Gob Edwin Jubajib, daghan gyud ang nagsurrender gumikan ang atong gobernador seryoso nga mutabang diha ninyo," (When Kuya Gov. Edwin Jubahib took office, many surrendered because our governor is serious about helping you - NPAs), he added.

Meanwhile, General Torres expressed his aspirations for the continuity of the progress against CPP-NPA-NDF movements in the province.

"Sana, yung mga mga commitment natin sa isa't-isa para sa kapayapaan at ika-uunland ng Talaingod laong-lao na sa mga bata na nakikita ko ngayon ay magpatuloy na po. Malaki po ang aking paniniwala na darating ito sa lalong madaling panahon," (Hopefully, our commitments for each other for peace and development of Talaingod will continue, especially for the children, whom I have seen today. I was certain then, that this would arrive at the soonest time), Torres statement reads.

Torres has been  baptized by Ata-Manobo leaders of Talaingod as “Datu Manunggod”, meaning someone who is a source of hope.  (PIA XI Davao del Norte/Ezri M. Coda, Jr. with reports from jmdabangan)
