DAVAO DEL NORTE, Jan. 6 (PIA) – The vaccination rates in Kapalong has considerably increased after holding two rounds of three-day National Vaccination Days dubbed as "Bayanihan Bakunahan" to  fight COVID-19.

Kapalong Municipal Mayor Maria Theresa R. Timbol revealed an interview yesterday (Jan. 6) at the Network Briefing hosted by Bing Kimpo on behalf of Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.

"Yung bakuna po namin before sa Bayanihan Bakunahan mababa po talaga, yung percentage namin na sa 25% lang po (Our vaccination rate before the Bayanihan Bakunahan was really low. We only have 25% of our target population),” she explained.

After joining the two rounds of simultaneous three days every round of the Bayanihan Bakunahan, they were able to raise it higher.

"Pero nung twice na nagsupport po kami sa Bayanihan Bakunahan, we were able to raise it to 68% sa first dose and 48% sa second dose na po (But when we supported the Bayanihan Bakunahan for two rounds, we raised our vaccination rates to 68% for the first dosage and 48% for the second dose),” she added.

She further emphasized that their strategy for the conduct of the Bayanihan Bakunahan in her municipality helped them.

"Malaki po yung tulong ng strategy na ginawa namin kasi simultaneous po yung ginawa namin na Bayanihan Bakunahan sa 14 barangays po. Kaya tumaas po kami from 25% to 68% po (Our strategy really paid off because we raised our vaccination rate from 25%-68% by conducting it simultaneously over 14 barangays),” Timbol stated. (PIA XI Davao del Norte/jmda/Ezri M.
