The Tagum City Christmas tree, which stands at 195 feet, still holds the tallest Christmas tree record in the country. With its strong foundation and beautiful decoration, residents of Tagum City and even from neighboring provinces always visit the holiday tree annually.
Despite the restrictions on event gatherings brought about by the pandemic, a small lighting ceremony took place, strictly following the standard health protocols attended by city government officials and a few residents.
Based on the city government explanation, the five dominant colors featured in the giant holiday tree symbolize significant aspirations of the local government.
The colors blue signify inspiration; green for growth and harmony; yellow for positivity and hope; white for purity and simplicity; and red for courage.
City Mayor Allan L. Rellon said that while not everyone values the impact of the joy the holiday tree brings, it becomes a source of hope and joy to other people amidst the pandemic.
Residents in Tagum City and other visitors can visit the giant holiday tree every day from 6:00-10:00 PM. (PIA XI Davao del Norte/jmda/Ezri M. Coda, Jr. with reports from CIO Tagum)
