CORDS Nograles calls for unity in vaccination drive


DAVAO CITY, Nov. 29 (PIA)--A Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for Davao Region called on the participation and cooperation of everyone as he stressed that vaccines are the most effective defense against COVID-19 infection with the observance of the minimum public health standard of facemasks, social distancing and washing of hands using water, soap and alcohol.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles stressed that the current goal of the government is population protection where the number of deaths and hospitalization of patients due to COVID-19 infection be reduced to a minimum through vaccination.

He bared that with the Bayanihan Bakunahan program, the people will grab the chance to be vaccinated.

Nograles said more than 45 million people have been vaccinated for the first dose, and 35.3 Million people have already received the second dose while 162,822 received booster shots.

Nograles underscored that the supply of vaccines is no longer a problem.

“What matters now is the immediate administration of the vaccines as soon as the supplies arrived at the various local government units all over the country,” Nograles said.

He said more than 80.6 million doses of vaccines have been administered including the first dose, second dose and the pediatrics.

Health Undersecretary Abdullah Dumama Jr. stressed that what we will do today will define how we will be in the future.

He said that the vaccination coverage is moving towards addressing the vaccine needs of the eligible population, especially the vulnerable groups.

Dumama said that the Bayanihan Bakunahan aims to vaccinate 15-Million population nationwide, in the course of three days.

He bared that In Davao Region, the objective is vaccinating these number of people: 147,313 in Davao City; 139,540 in Davao de Oro; 168,704 in Davao del Norte; 134, 886 in Davao del Sur; 66.106 in Davao Occidental and 96,744 in Davao Oriental or a total of 753, 294. 

Dumama said that one must not deny on the right to life as the vaccines are proven to be effective and safe. 

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio thanked the Davaoenos especially to the front liners who took the lead in caring for the sick of COVID-19 and for everyone for their full support to the vaccination program.

She encouraged everyone to have themselves vaccinated and to adhere all the time to the minimum public health protocols at all times.

Dr. Leny Johnson Rivera, assistant regional director of the Department of Health XI called on everyone not to be choosy based on the vaccine brand since all of the jabs are proven safe and effective.

She called on everyone to avail of the vaccines which will protect the people from COVID-infection.  (PIA XI Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)

More NPAs surrender in DavNor

Parents urged to register children to Safe Davao QR before vax

DAVAO CITY, February 22—(PIA) A local vaccine czar urged parents to register first their children aged five to eleven to the SAFEDAVAO QR before they can go to vaccine sites for inoculation. Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, Vaccination Cluster head of the city bared the registration to the SAFEDAVAOQR is crucial so that their children will be integrated in the local vaccination system. She said that the vaccination for children now is on its second phase, with three vaccination sites namely San Roque Elementary School in Barrio Obrero, Vicente Hizon Elementary School at Barangay Sasa and the Almendras gym. “Children can be vaccinated on these sites, whether they are walk-ins provided they have registered at the SAFEDAVAOQR,” Villafuerte said.
