PSA XI lauds local stakeholders contribution



DAVAO DEL NORTE, (Oct. 29 (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Regional Statistical Services Office Davao Region this morning (Oct. 29) held the Local Stakeholders Appreciation Day to honor the contribution of the various private and government institutions to PSA XI.

The event was still part of the celebration of the 32nd National Statistics Month with its theme, "NSM@32: Revving up for Economic and Social Recovery Through Evidence-Based Policies."

In his opening speech, PSA XI Regional Director Ruben D. Abaro, Jr pointed out the contribution of the various sectors from private and government offices and their generosity in providing timely, accurate, and complete data which help them estimate relevant statistical data.

"Actually, this activity is one way in commending our stakeholders and data providers for generously providing us timely, accurate, and complete data which are needed to the estimation of Gross Regional Domestic Products or GRDP and the Gross Regional Domestic Expenditure or GRDE and the compilation of the regional social and economic trends," Abaro said in his message.


Presented afterward were the partner agencies and stakeholders from the private and government institutions who were appreciated for their contribution in providing data to PSA XI.

From the social sector, the best data providers were the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

From the infrastructure sector, the best data providers were the Davao Light and Power Company, Davao City Water District, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and the Department of Energy (DOE).

Also appreciated were the institutions from the development administration sector namely, Office of Civil Defense, Bureau of Local Government Finance, Public Attorney's Office (PAO), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

On the list of economic sectors, the best data providers were the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), DENR - Environmental Management Bureau, DENR - Mines and Geosciences Bureau, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

DOH XI hires more nurses, doctors

DAVAO CITY, September 6 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI bared its emergency hiring for nurses and doctors following the need to augment the personnel requirement of COVID19 hospitals from all over the region. The head of the DOH XI Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Dr. Rachel Pasion, in today’s DOH Virtual Presser reported that in Davao City alone combining both the COVID19 hospitals and the private hospitals have utilized 674 COVID19 beds out of the 830 beds or 79.4 utilization rate. This brings the region’s critical care utilization at a high risk level. The Southern Philippine Medical Center, in the past few days, released an advisory informing the public that it has been experiencing an unusually high volume of patients needing admission for COVID19. Nickel mining site in Mati outside of protected areas

MATI CITY, DAVAO ORIENTAL- The nickel mining site of the Austral-Asia link Mining Corporation and Hallmark Mining Corporation is located outside of the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary and the Pujada Bay Seascape and Landscape. In a statement, the local government unit of Mati City said that the mining area is “four kilometers away from the boundary of the Pujada Bay Seascape which is a protected area and is also outside the Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary which is a Unesco-heritage site.” The mining site located in Barangay Macambol in Mati City comprises a total area measuring 17,215.49 hectares. The Mati City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CiENRO) clarified that the mining operation has been issued a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in 2004 and has been in operation since then.
