DAVAO CITY, Oct. 28 (PIA) – The implementation of projects worth P40-million under the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) has commenced to soon benefit the residents of Barangays Balabag and Goma in Digos City.
The local government of Digos City has led on Wednesday (Oct. 27) the groundbreaking ceremonies for the rehabilitation and improvement of potable water systems in both barangays, concreting of road from Sitio Tubor to Sitio Roblehan in Brgy. Goma, and upgrading of road from Sitio Bandera to Sitio Lumayan in Brgy. Balabag.
Each barangay has an allocation of P20 million budget from the Local Government Support Fund - Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP).
This is pursuant to Executive Order (EO) 70 or the "Whole of Nation Approach" to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), one of the flagship programs and legacies of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
The partner agencies in the implementation of these projects are: the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Digos City, National Task Force-ELCAC, Philippine National Police (PNP) and the 39th Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Provincial Director Mika-Chan Magtulis of DILG Davao del Sur stated, “the people of barangays Balabag and Goma in Digos City have witnessed the fulfillment of the government's promise to support a just and lasting peace through the simultaneous groundbreaking ceremonies of the projects.”
Magtulis added, “this aims to achieve a sustainable development to conflict-prone communities especially those in far-flung areas.” (PIA-XI/Carina L. Cayon)
