Francis was the first of the 500 vaccinees for the launch held at the seaside Grand Pavilion of the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao. The resort-themed Bakuna by the Sea was organized thru a public-private partnership spearheaded by the City Government of Davao, the private sector led Davao Tourism Association and the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao.
The hotel provided the venue and counterpart logistics for the vaccination site as a way of celebrating its 60 years in Davao City. Apart from the hotel other establishments also volunteered the services and provided other logistical support for the program.
The vaccination aims to inoculate 7,000 tourism workers in Davao City. Also included are members of the local media thru the initiative of the Philippine Information Agency-XI.
Department of Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo- Puyat in a special video message hailed Bakuna by the Sea.
"I would like to congratulate the DATA for working with the City government of Davao to start inoculating our tourism workers. The recent designation of the NCR Plus area as a low-risk area is a welcome sign that the national vaccination program is working, and we hope to see this replicated in Davao as soon as possible," Sec. Puyat said in her video message.
Aside from Bakuna by the Sea other vaccination sites for different A4 sectors have been launched in Davao City. The Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies-XI (ARENA-XI)- led vaccination site at University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) is for government workers, it was also started on June 30.
Vacc2Normal, a vaccination program for Information Technology-Business Process Management Sector in Davao City was also held today (June 30) at Felcris Centrale. (PIA/RG Alama)
