All systems go for Bakuna by the Sea

DAVAO CITY- It’s all systems go for Bakuna by the Sea, a vaccination program for Davao City’s tourism sector workers.

 

The vaccinations will start tomorrow, June 30 at 8 :00 a.m.  with the Grand Pavilion of the Waterfront Insular Hotel serving as the venue of the vaccination site.

 

An initial 2,000 doses of vaccines will be provided to jumpstart the vaccination of an estimated 7,000 tourism workers and and those working in allied establishments. The site will also accommodate members of the Davao City media for the vaccination.

 

Dubbed as Bakuna by the Sea (Vaccination by the Sea) the lush seaside tropical garden and coconut grove within the grounds of the Waterfront Insular Hotel will provide a resort-like ambiance to the vaccination.

 

The tourism sector vaccination is a multi-sectoral partnership between the City Government of Davao, the private sector spearheaded by the Davao Tourism Association (DATA) and the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao which provided the venue as part of the hotel’s 60th anniversary.

 

“I am very very happen that Waterfront Davao on its 60th anniversary, they volunteered to sponsor the logistics for this activity. This is really private sector led,” City Tourism Operations Office head Generose Tecson said.

 

“This vaccination program goes to show that in Davao City, we have a beautiful working relationship between the private sector and the city government,” Tecson added.

 

Meanwhile Cherry Al-ag president-elect of DATA said Bakuna by the Sea is giant step towards attaining recovery and normalcy.

 

“I understand we still are in a difficult and very challenging times the desire to recover and restart is there and one powerful way to do it is to get ourselves and our people vaccinated,” Al-ag said.

 

She said systems have been put in place to have a safe and orderly vaccination process.

 

“No walk-ins, only those who have PRE-REGISTERED in the CHO google link and those who have been GIVEN A SCHEDULE shall be vaccinated based on the initial vaccines allocated (2k) this week and to avoid crowding, among other safety considerations,” Al-ag said.

Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. The traffic official emphasized that LTO XI has apprehended a total of 115 colorum vehicles from January to April 2024. Calderon also provided tips to identify colorum vehicles.
