With tourism reopening IGaCoS ensures health, security protocols are followed

 

 

DAVAO DEL NORTE, May 26 (PIA) —- Even as he aims to open the tourism industry of the Island Garden City of Samal, City Mayor Al David Uy sees to it that health and security protocols are followed.

 

In the bid to secure the May 28 culmination night of Summer Saya sa Isla 2022, Mayor Uy issued Executive Order No. 26 series of 2022, providing health and security guidelines to mark the end of this summer fest.

 

He wanted to ensure “the safety of everyone who will attend”, giving consideration to the still hoisted public health  emergency status  of  the Philippines due to threats of COVID-19 infection. 

 

“There is a need to lay down guidelines that must be observed by everyone who wish to attend the culmination activity,” Mayor Uy cited in E.O. No. 26, signed on May 20, 2022 also directing concerned city government offices to follow the  recommended floor plan for the event in accordance with  the minimum public health protocol.

 

Part of the recommended event set up is the installation of Triage at the entry point on top of  emphasizing  the wearing of face mask, checking of temperature, sanitizing, observing social distancing consistent with Department of Health (DOH) National IATF (Interagency Task Force) Guidelines.

 

Meanwhile, part of the  health measures that Mayor Uy ordered is the prohibition of young children below five years old to be at the  culmination event. He further ordered children  five years old and above,  to be accompanied by  parents and/or guardians. 

 

On security measures, he also raised prohibition against backpacks, bulky bags, hats and jackets to be taken inside the Freedom Park venue, while also emphasizing the need to conduct body inspection upon entry of participants and visitors.

 

On  the other hand, Mayor Uy also laid down guidelines for concessionaires serving during the event. He emphasized them not to serve food and drinks using plastic materials, and that barbecue and food cooked on sticks should be served without the sticks.  (PIA XI/ Jeanevive Duron Abangan)

DOH XI hires more nurses, doctors

DAVAO CITY, September 6 (PIA) – The Department of Health XI bared its emergency hiring for nurses and doctors following the need to augment the personnel requirement of COVID19 hospitals from all over the region. The head of the DOH XI Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Dr. Rachel Pasion, in today’s DOH Virtual Presser reported that in Davao City alone combining both the COVID19 hospitals and the private hospitals have utilized 674 COVID19 beds out of the 830 beds or 79.4 utilization rate. This brings the region’s critical care utilization at a high risk level. The Southern Philippine Medical Center, in the past few days, released an advisory informing the public that it has been experiencing an unusually high volume of patients needing admission for COVID19.
