Premium Taxis now in Davao City


DAVAO CITY, April 13 (PIA)- The first batch of Premium Taxis (10 units) have started to ply their routes in Davao City after its launch on April 8.


Each Premium Taxis is equipped with modern features such as   free internet access to passengers, on-board navigation system (GPS) or mobile-based application, a dashboard and occupancy cameras with continuous recording of the past 24 hours of operation, and automatic fare collection through cashless cards.    


This is in accordance to Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Memorandum Circular (MC) 2019-032 or otherwise known as the Taxi Modernization Program.


To date, Cymae Transpo OPC is the only Premium Taxi Franchise awardee in Davao Region. The company provided the first 10 of the 30 minimum taxi units under the LTFRB Memorandum Circular.


These new taxi units have undergone inspection, road test and sealing by LTFRB=XI. Currently Davao City has an allocation of 200 Premium Taxi slots. 

 

The launch of the Premium Taxis held at Eden Nature Park was attended by personnel of the LTFRB led by Chairman Martin B. Delgra III, LTFRB XI Regional Director Don Llanos III, and Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary. For Road Transport & Infrastructure Atty. Mark Steven Pastor. 


Chairman Delgra said the project sets the tone for modernizing the public transport system in Davao City. 


“This is what we want. Safe, comfortable, convenient, and obviously, kaaya-aya na paglalakbay dito sa siyudad ng Davao (pleasant travel in the city of Davao), ” Chairman Delgra said.


Meanwhile according to USec. Pastor  the Premium Taxis are part of the basket of solutions under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).  (with reports from LTFB-XI PIA/RG Alama)

LTO to public: Do not patronize colorum vehicles

  NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro (PIA) - An official of the Land Transportation Office enjoined the public for the eradication of colorum vehicles plying the streets in Davao region. During the second episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas in Davao City, LTO XI Regional Director Eleanor Calderon urged the public not to patronize colorum vehicles to avoid any road safety risk and to also complement their enforcement operations against these violators. “If we stop patronizing these (colorum vehicles), they will just die a natural death; mawala ra na sila sa kalsad a (they will just vanish in our roads),” Calderon said. The traffic official emphasized that LTO XI has apprehended a total of 115 colorum vehicles from January to April 2024. Calderon also provided tips to identify colorum vehicles. Pilipinas Shell to build import facility in Sta. Cruz, DavSur

DAVAO CITY, April 22-   Petroleum giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation will be constructing its Darong Import Facility in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. When completed it will be the third largest import facility in the country after the Shell Import Facility Tabangao in Batangas and the North Mindanao Import Facility in Cagayan de Oro. The Darong Import Facility has a rated capacity of 67-million liters of petroleum products.   The import facility will help and promote business continuity and stability in the area by providing needed fuel resources for mobility during storms, floods and other calamities.
