Philhealth soon to hitch online portals with  LGUs

DAVAO DEL NORTE, 18 MARCH (PIA) --  Local Government Units (LGUs) can expect that sooner they would have access to Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) virtual front desk (PVFD) to  enroll their constituents, online.

PHIC XI has opened public access to PVFD launched this morning but  PHIC XI Regional Operations Division Chief Filbert Bryan Sollesta cited this as a pilot-testing phase with its operation limited for the time being, at the local health insurance level in the provinces.

“There is actually no link yet with the  LGU with this system, but soon as the system that we are waiting will be implemented, magkakaroon din po ng access ang LGUs sa (online) enrollment system ng Philhealth. ‘Di pa sa ngayon,” Sollesta said.

During the online launch of PVFD and Press Conference, Sollesta recognized the significant  partnership of LGUs with PHIC in implementing Philhealth membership programs especially on the issuance of certificates of indigency to enroll members under the indigent programs of Philhealth.

Sollesta, however, assured that linking the online or PVFD portals with  LGUs “is forthcoming”.

“I just cannot yet discuss in detail right now because the systems is not yet rolled out but definitely papunta po talaga ang systems natin to enable also our LGUs to enroll from their end, especially the financially incapable members,” he said.

However, LGUs can act as representative of enrolling online their constituents “as long as the transacting client is authorized by the member,” Sollesta said.

In  such case, PHIC will require authorization letter from members allowing representatives to transact on their behalf.

In line with this, Sollesta pitched his call for client to authorize those transacting for them.

“Let me just remind everyone na kailangan po i-authorize nila sinong yong nagta-transact sa kanila (that they need to authorize whoever is transacting with us on their behalf). We will be requiring an authorization letter from our clients,” he said.  (PIA XI/ Jeanevive Duron Abangan)
